#K9 Kamp Challenge #2-Fetch It Yourself!

This week for our K9 Kamp Challenge we were instructed to grab life by the balls and play some good old fashioned fetch for 60 minutes.

Fetch is not a problem for Sherman. It is his favorite activity of all time.

However, for this challenge not only was Sherman suppose to fetch, but I was too. (before you get all excited to see pictures of this, I must warn you that there are no pictures of us playing fetch,  No one was home to take pictures of us and I was not willing to risk a tumble with my camera around my neck) which of course was bound to happen.

So here is how the challenge went:

Sherman and I first went for our normal 20 minute walk to warm up.
After a quick drink of water we proceded to the back yard to get our fetch on.
We broke our fetch session down into (3) 20 minute sessions for several reasons:

1. Sherman gets way too excited to play fetch out in the backyard, seriously, he gets so excited he foams.

2. Have you ever seen a 130 pound Newf chase after a ball? His paws will tear your grass to shreds and leave only mud. We planted new grass last year for the 5th time and it finally took this Spring. We usually play a lot more fetch in the winter, after a few good coatings of snow.

3. Remember last weeks challenge? It was determined that I am not a very good runner.

So when we did our first fetch I kind of accidentally scared the crap out of Sherman when I  raced him to his toy, he stopped and turned around and looked at me like “What the hell are you dong crazy lady? this is mine, are you new at this game?” I apologized and explained that I had to fetch too. Sherman seemed ok with it as long as he got to his toy first. He was NOT at all happy the one and only  time I got to it first, which may be because I cheated and I may have pushed him a little and threw him off course. I’m just sayin…I might have, it’s unclear at this time, there was a lot going on.

After we both got the hang of fetching together we were able play in an acceptable manner for the remaining sessions.

Now………… I would also like to take this time to make a public service announcement:

This week,  in attempts to start eating more healthier,  I bought fresh spinach for the first time in my life.
I made the whole family a spinach salad complete with mozzarella, tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette.
I am proud to announce that every family member ate the spinach salad,  even my husband who thought that I had bought the spinach to make dog treats!

***We are featured bloggers this week for K9 Kamp!!  Check it out at Kols Notes and Peggy’s Pet Place and while you are there you can enter for a chance to win a pair of fetching sticks from Mollyproducts.com.

Stay tuned for next week’s challenge!  Sherman and I can’t wait!
