Let’s face it, blogging bloopers happen to all of us.
No matter how careful we are, no matter how many times we proof read, sometimes we slip up.
Right? Please tell me I’m not alone here.
Please?
Sometimes I think I am the queen of blogging bloopers. They happen to me all the time and I am left banging my head against the computer desk.
DOH!
Here are some blogging bloopers that I am known for:
Typos
Some of my regular blogging bloopers are typos.
Even with spell check, I still manage to make countless errors.
Take my post the other day about How I Trained My Dogs To Pee In A Bowl.
I spelled pepper wrong. Peeper is what came out.
One of my Twittter buddies called me out on it and I just laughed. I decided to leave it because, well…… peeper worked in the post too. We were talking about pee and peppers so peeper is now a new pepper hybrid.
Bobby is another one that fumbles me up. Booby is sometimes what comes out and I don’t catch it. Yes I call my son a Booby, but not on purpose. Caren from Dakota’s Den called me out on that one and of course I immediately changed it.
There and their is another one that hangs me out to dry too. Obviously I know the difference but sometimes my fingers are faster than my eyes and I just don’t catch it for a few days after the post is live. It’s embarrassing because most of you have already read it and just chalked it up to another typo of mine.
Chose and Choose. Seriously what was I doing in grade school?
Sherman’s registered name is The Chosen One. That is how I figure it out, Sherman is not The Choosen One. So therefore my choice now is to choose, because that is what I chose to do. Ha!
I will not ever be able to repeat that.
Titles and tags.
My blogging bloopers aren’t confined to just typos either. A few times I have forgotten to title my post. I remember seeing it one time in my blog feed and I was like, WTH? Who stole my title? Oops. My bad.
Tagging gets me a lot too., but WP is making it a lot easier, when I remember. I think I need an alarm to go off when I forget tags. TAGS!TAGS!TAGS!
Blog Hops
Blog Hops are another blooper of mine. More than my fair share of times I have entered a blog hop more than once because I got a little too excited with my enter key. There’s my blog. Twice. Just making sure you didn’t miss it.
Comments.
Comments are another big blooper of mine. Sometimes I just type to fast hit enter and then notice my error. Wait! Come back here comment! Then I have to go in and type another comment with an apology. I’m sorry if I have ever done this on your blog!
In my defense, I am a blooper in everyday life too. My day is filled with bloopers all the time. Everyday. Just ask my husband.
So tell me, am I alone in the world of blogging bloopers or do you have some too? Please share.

Diane says:
I think typos are inevitable (at least from time to time) and I think we’ve all called a Bobby, Booby, in an email at least once.
I hate when I make typos on Twitter though. It’s so easy to just fire off tweets and then after you send them, you realize OOPS.
we three doxies says:
Are you kiddin’? My WHOLE entire blog is one big blooper.
Howevers, I did notice anudder typo…hehehe…you said TAKING instead of TALKING about the peeper plant.
Puddles
Jen says:
Damn it! Do you know how many times I read this post to make sure there wasn’t any typos?! Bang head now!
Kristine says:
Laughing out loud here peeper! Hey, look at it this way, you have plenty of funny stories to share that the prim and proper ones don’t have because they’re always so perfect (I somehow wrote pimp instead of prim but luckily I caught it and edited, how’s that for a blooper?).
I can’t believe Puddles beat me to the typo. I think the first person to spot the typo should win something. Maybe a peeper plant.
Jen says:
At least you caught yours! I think there have been at least 4 bloopers in this post alone! I am going to have to hire you as a proofreader:)
Jackie says:
hahaha ” because I got a little two excited with my enter ” too? or is it to? lol. Still love it!
Jen says:
OMG!!!! I am dying right now. The to, too and two bloopers were not suppose to be there! See this is what happens all the time!
houndstooth says:
You mean like hitting the button to fast instead of too fast?
I’m pretty paranoid about typos and I try really hard to check for them, but I know some have snuck by me at times!
Jen says:
OMG! OMG! I saw that last night and I went back to change it and then I couldn’t remember what I was going to change!
I guess this post should of been the blooper post! The harder I try the more bloopers! I should of made a game out of it!
Taryn says:
I am another one that is paranoid about bloopers, and despite always being on the lookout, some still make it through! And I’ve forgotten tags a bunch of times, but I go back and do an edit for them.
Jen says:
I hear you, how do they sneak through? I think someone else goes in and changes it!
2 brown dawgs says:
*raises hand* Guilty on all accounts. One time I had to delete a comment on a blogger blog (it lets you delete). After I sent it, it made no sense at all. I wish wordpress would let users edit their own comments.
Jen says:
I wish WP would too! Sometimes I write a comment and I am like that is not at all what I was trying to say!
Poochie Project says:
I want to say that I win in this game. For about 3 months I had a word misspelled in my URL. POUCHIE… yup.
Jackie says:
I think you do win for that… But – just so you know – when I clicked on the link where it says “Poochie Project” above your name, uh – there’s another typo. The link didn’t go through because it’s too: http://www.poochieprojcet.com
Obviously I was able to figure out the type and get to your site, but thought you might like to know so you can fix it.
Poochie Project says:
To think I didn’t believe I could be more embarrassed. Lol. Unfortunately, as a blogger vice WP user that comment must remain uneditable for all the world to laugh at.
Jen says:
LOL, that’s a good one! At least you caught it! You win, for now at least:))))
caren gittleman says:
Gotta tell ya the “Booby” one made me laugh my butt off!!!
“Bloopers” for me directly in my blog are rare (don’t hate me!!) I think that comes from my former newspaper life where I was responsible for representing others by using the written word. Errors were a HUGE “no-no!!!!”
But….when it comes to being rushed and leaving comments, YES I have had a number of bloopers in that area! Fun post!
Jen says:
So you’re saying it’s in your blood then? I am very jealous!!!!
The Booby one made me blush, I was so embarrassed, but your comment on that made me laugh:)
Blueberry's human says:
I am really anal about typos – I have actually gone back to a post, fixed the typo and then updated said post. I don’t hold it against others when I notice them – it happens and I don’t expect everyone to be as rigid about it as I am.
I love your blog – bloopers and all!
Jen says:
I update all the time too, but it’s usually too late, I’ve already been busted!
Thank you for the kind words:)))
Corbin says:
My biggest Blooper… Corbing. All the time. Sometimes I catch it, but not always. Just a habit to type “ing” I guess. But it’s super embarrassing… I can’t even spell my dogs name! HAHA So, no… you’re in good bloopin’ company!
-Corbin’s momma, Jenn
Jen says:
LOL, Corbing, I can see how that would happen. It’s a new dance move:)))))
Pip says:
My assistant’s whole life is a blooper! We are also famous for leaving words out of sentences in our comments!
Your pal, Pip
Jen says:
I do that a lot too! I wonder if anyone notices?:)
Claire says:
I was so excited to make a post about sending my boyfriend off to Guatemala to learn Spanish on his own kind of study abroad (my whole blog is focused around my own semester in France), I posted it saying that we were sending him to SOUTH AMERICA (I had actually said Guatemala earlier in the post) instead of CENTRAL AMERICA. It wasn’t until he told me his flight was only five hours long instead of the eight I had originally expected that I realized I had highlighted the wrong global region. I’m not sure if anyone actually saw it, but I’m definitely embarrassed that I did it! I need to brush up on my geography. Europe and America aren’t the only important areas of the world, after all!
Jen says:
Well I give you a lot of credit for even realizing the time difference! I never would of caught that!
Finn says:
I constantly have typos in my comments, mostly because I am doing them from an Iphone, and then because I don’t proofread them. I am also known for checking over and over to make sure I have only saved posts I wasn’t ready to post yet cause sometimes I post before I am done!
Jen says:
And that is why I don’t use my iPhone for comments, if I make this many error on my regular computer imagine what would happen on a phone!
I have to be careful too with the draft and publish buttons! They shouldn’t be so close!
KimT says:
I never have any bloopers. (rofl…) Forgetting the title is the one that kills me, though – I’m so glad I’m not the only one!
Your poor son. He’s going to grow up hating blogs and blogging.
Jen says:
I am so glad you have forgot titles too! I get so into writing the post that I have at times forgot the title! I usually leave the title for last, which I guess isn’t the smartest thing to do!
My son actually keeps asking me if he can start his own blog, but he has no idea how many times I have called him Booby!
jan says:
For a long time I made a living grading papers. I can spot someone else’s mistake in the dark almost, but I read my own work the way it is supposed to be, not the way it is. Until…when I see it published the mistakes (and there are more than I want to admit) hit me between the eyes. Usually.
Jen says:
I can spot people’s typos too, easier than I spot mine! You nailed it when you said “I read my work the is suppose to be, not the way it is.” My brain has already made it’s mind up that it is right!
Jackie says:
I’m pretty anal about typos too, like Blueberry’s human. I re-read a post several times before hitting the publish button, then ask my sis (the Typo Nazi) if she saw any typos. Luckily she did not berate me for the time I wrote “chocolate mouse” instead of “mousse.” I go in and fix typos if I catch them later, because I’m afflicted w/ the perfection gene… I hate it when you can’t edit comments/Tweets, etc. So glad Facebook has the new edit feature on comments!
My big thing is forgetting the tags though! I’m terrible with that. Sometimes I amuse myself by putting strange labels in. I tend to not take the tagging as seriously as I outta!
Jen says:
I totally need a proof reader! I remember one time I had my husband read one of my posts and as soon as he sat down he caught a wrong word used in the first sentence! I was embarrassed!
Now you have to tell me about the new edit feature on FB because whenever I have gone in to try and edit a post I can’t figure it out and I just wind up deleting it!
Jackie says:
When you hover over the top right hand corner of a post on Facebook, a little pencil icon comes up – and you can edit your post! Much better than deleting, since often folks have already liked or commented.
Jen says:
Thanks! I’ll have to give that a try!
Jodi says:
Hell no, you aren’t alone! Why just last night when Hubby was bored he decided to read my blog and tell me my post “Mock 10 With My Hair on Fire” should have been spelled “Mach.” I thought, well maybe on your blog, but on my blog it’s “MOCK.” Bite me.
I’m constantly finding spelling errors after the fact and I’ve posted without titles before too. In fact I’ve done everything you listed and probably more. I’m a walking blooper.
Jen says:
Ha-ha! Nice Jodi! I love that you told your husband to bite you!! I’m a walking blooper too!
Two French Bulldogs says:
BOL, you should see when mom blogs from her IPhone!!!!
Benny & “Linky” not Lily
Jen says:
Ha-ha!
Bassetmomma says:
OMG! Well, I’m with you on all those counts. I do find the comment mistakes the most embarrassing and like you and so many others, it’s just that I am trying to type so fast!
Jen says:
I know I have to slow down on typing in my comments! It’s a bad habit!
Montecristo Travels says:
Yes … Oh YES!! I do now have an editor looking at all my posts. I believe that my biggest issue falls in the commenting. I always end up going “AH NOOOO!” On blogs or Facebook. *sigh* You are NOT alone. I love when a reader points them out – in a comment or – as one reader loves to do – she just private messages me. Bless.
Jen says:
I am so glad I am not alone here! You are so lucky to have an editor! I don’t mind when a reader points out my typos but I love it when I notice them first!
Nichole says:
LOL … :::raising my hand::: as I am guilty of the majority of those bloopers as well, however I think you win with calling your son Booby!
Jen says:
Ha! Booby is pretty bad! Lucky none of his friends read this blog!
Jessica @ YouDidWhatWithYourWeiner says:
When blogging, my main bloopers are typos. I get paranoid though that I will post about a place or product and get a fact totally wrong. I am always double checking and have ended up fine so far. However, the other day I called a dog a he when, if I had given it a second of though, I knew it was a she. The dog’s owner graciously pointed it out. Oops!
Jen says:
I get nervous messing up facts and links too! I think that posts that have a lot of facts and links are the hardest one to write!
I have called a boy dog a girl dog before, I always feel bad!
sprinkles says:
Ummmm, have you ever read my blog? Then you’d know that I’m just one big blooper waiting to happen! lol
There is one blog in particular (I won’t tell you whose, but I will say it’s NOT yours!) that annoys me beyond reason because the girl cannot spell or use proper grammar. But then I go read my blog and I’m pretty sure people must think the same thing about me sometimes!
I’m famous for leaving words out of sentences, which can be embarrassing.
Jen says:
I have never seen a blooper on your blog before! I think it’s hard because we read the way we want to and the way it is!
Misty Shores Chesapeakes says:
I am laughing hysterically to the Booby blooper!
The biggest blooper I have had so far is when I was leaving a comment on a non WP site, it kept telling me I didn’t exist, re-entered it at least a half dozen times then gave up. Went back another time same thing, I messaged them and said I was having trouble leaving comments on their blog, well I finally found out the problem…I was entering the wrong spelling of chesapeakes, I continually kept typing chesapakes, really, I couldn’t see that was wrong
Jen says:
Haha! I have done that before too! I always leave out one of the N’s in our blog name!
Kolchak, Felix & Jodi says:
Oh my…sometimes I think Kol’s Notes s one big blooper reel. I detest it! I bought a laptop with one of those flat keyboards and I think my typing went to H-E-double hockey sticks in a hand basket. LOL, typos GALORE and then if I happen to be a little sleepy when I edit, sometimes I’ll make it even worse…like that time I wrote an entire post about “senior dogs”, misspelled it as senor, then let the spell check change it all to “Señor”.
Jen says:
LOL! I don’t think I have ever seen a typo on your blog either! and here I thought it was just me!
That is too funny about senior being Senor!
Mango Momma says:
Oh yes, that happens here too. The worst is a typo in a video because to fix it means going back and re-editing, re-posting, bah, forget about it. Mostly people read as fast as we type so they see the right word due to context (at least I hope so).
Mango Momma
Jen says:
I don’t do many videos here but if I did I know I have those kind of typos too!
Beth says:
Its pretty terrifying to see all the mistakes I’ve made. I’ve only been called out once, but I think its just because no one is reading. Great photos make for a good distraction
Jen says:
That’s right! The beautiful photos are a great distraction on your site! I bet no one even sees a typo there!
Jana Rade says:
LOL Everybody does it … and not just bloggers! I know stories of newspapers having to be pulled off the stands because some major bloopers (back in my old country)
I remember a phone book where mid way through there were several pages from an old west novel. Pretty funny for the phone book reader, not so funny for the novel reader missing a part of the story to phone listings!
Jen says:
I have read a few magazine and newspaper typos before-not many but a few, and I am always wondering how they slipped through!
I can’t believe a phone book had part of a novel in it! That is too funny!
Mary E Haight (@dancingdogblog) says:
You know the Copyblogger post just out about getting enough sleep so your posts makes sense? That’s me, not enough sleep – often a 4 or 5 in the morning problem, I once wrote a first sentence that contradicted itself. The first sentence – logging is nothing if not humbling! Oh, and there was the word “public” where the keys on my laptop were starting to stick and not type…guess which letter didn’t make it;) I think I got a lot of hits on that one for all the wrong reasons…so, no – it’s not just you =)
Jen says:
I think that is my biggest problem! I mostly blog and write a lot of my posts at night, sometimes barely able to keep my eyes open!
That is hilarious about the public typo! I can so see something like that happening to me.! LMAO!
