Black and White Sunday #1

Today we are joining You Did What with Your Weiner and Dachshund Nola in our first Black and White Sunday. The pictures below of Leroy were taken in color but converted to black and white.

I am always hesitant to use black and white photos with the Newfs because a few people have told me in the past that there natural coloring is so beautiful that the black and white does not do them justice.

I however, am a big fan of black and white photos and I would like to experiment more with it.

Love the second photo. You should click on over to my blog – you will find a Black and White Sunday blog hop! That’s right, we made it official and turned it into a blog hop. This is our soft launch and your chance to “get in on the ground floor”. Ha, ha.

I love black and white photos. There is so much you see when you just focus on the image itself. Great pics Jen!

The second photo is pawsome! I see why some people would say doggies look better in colour – I don’t like being photographed in b/W as you can’t see my tri colours – but the human says its fun and makes photos look more ‘artistic’ *waggy tail*.

The black and white photos are lovely!

It’s neat to play around with different picture colorings and setting sometimes. It can really make the difference if the picture maybe wasn’t so awesome in the first place (okay, so many of my pictures aren’t awesome in the first place).

B&W photos show more detail of the subject by stripping the (sometimes) confusing colors. This allows the eye to truly focus on the main subject of your photo.

Misty commented on the soulful eyes and Scrappy likes the whiskers. Those details really pop with black and white.

    Nice job Jen!

I think any dog of any color can look good in black and white in the right photo. And, I’m not sure if you know this (I only figured it out recently), but dslr cameras have a black and white setting, and have adjustments you can make with the “color” on them, which can enhance certain aspects of the final black and white piece. Or, just messing around with the color curves of a black and white photo can really help it as well.

Very nice. I never think the brown dawgs look good in B&W photos either. I like them in sepia, but not so much in B&W. I should try this too. :)

The b&w application looks so different from b&w film. It’s a more old-timey look. I almost expect to see a six-shooter and cowboy hat.

Imagine black newf on the brightest July sun at midday; it will be true b&w picture. Or… in the snow?
