Monday Mischief. Unnecessary Roughness On The Offense.

The cooler weather we have been having here in Ohio over the last few days is a welcome change to Sherman and Leroy.

Not only have we been able to get out and have extended walks and work on our carting but the Newfs have also been able to pick up a few games of football in the backyard.

Sherman is a football fanatic. So much so that the football he is carrying in his mouth only comes out in the fall and winter.

He can’t control his excitement with his football, it’s almost like a freaky addiction.

Anyway, Sherman must of known that Sunday was football Sunday and that the weather was perfect for a short game because he dug deep in his toy box and brought his football out to the backyard.

He dropped the ball at my feet and went out for pass.

I threw him the ball and he brought it in for a touchdown.

It was a good clean run and we were just about to repeat the play when the defensive lineman made an appearance.

Enter Leroy.

He immediately took off down field to cover the receiver.

The receiver was not at all happy that the lineman was blocking his view and made a quick move to the right, bouncing off the lineman.

I think they got stuck together for a moment by a piece of slobber but Sherman was able to get away and get open for the pass even though the lineman was right on his tail.

He ran it in for his second touchdown of the game.

The defense asked for the ref to review the play because he believed there was “Unnecessary Roughness” done to him in the back field by the receiver, maybe a face mask even.

After further review the ref determined that the play was ran clean and that the defense would be charged a time out

The defense was not at all happy about the call and was thrown off the field for unsportsmanlike conduct.

This cracked me up! What a couple of athletes you have. :) Oh, and I wanted to ask you… did I just see Sherman on the dog-shaming website today? I swear it looked just like him.. and I know you had mentioned that site on FB. My 5 yo son is obsessed with it, he makes me read him the signs, and today after we read some (okay, some I have to edit-ha) he was telling me all of these signs that we should make up for Buster, like (in his words) “I ate the peanut butter and jelly sandwich that my mom cooked right off the table.” Oh man, I have laughed myself into tears from that website. I wish we lived near other Newfs.. B would prob. love to join in a pick-up game of FB. :)

LOL, yes Sherman was on the dog shaming website:))) If it was the one where he said he slipped a big pile of slobber on the floor and his Mom slipped in it?
That is hilarious that your son is obsessed with that site! You and him should totally make one up for Buster!

Nice game coverage Jen! So glad that Sherman won the game. I laughed when I saw Sherman in that second picture. He looked like a linebacker to me. That serious face. Such focus. :)

Such handsome boys. I don’t play games with any kind of balls myself, my sister is a soccer freak and always loves it when mom plays with her and the soccer ball. My idea of fun is to chase her chasing the soccer ball.

  • Pamela says:

I just have to ask about the rules of Newfootball: If Sherman catches a ball in the air but when he comes down, the slobber hits the ground outside the boundary line, is it a good catch or not?

    September 17, 2012 at 10:41 am
    • Jen says:

I believe it it is still ruled a good catch since the slobber is a type of bodily fluid and not actually part of his body. I’ll double check the rule book:)))

BOl – cute post. Well done, Sherman. Inquiring minds want to know if the face mask is constructed of slobber?

Woos – Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning

    September 17, 2012 at 11:50 am
    • Jen says:

There was some slobber associated with the face mask but the teeth were the items in question:)

  • Toby says:

Time outs are never any fun. I don’t know how to play football, but I do get carried away with play from time to time too and tend to ram into the girls. They don’t like it, and usually I end up with a nip on the nose.
