A Dog Named Boo. Book Review and Giveaway.

A Dog Named Boo. How One Dog and One Woman Rescued Each Other-and the Lives They Transformed Along the Way has to be added to the top 5 books that I have read this year. Oh, who am I kidding, it has to be among one of the top 5 books I have read in the last 20 years.

This is a true story about a dog named Boo who changed his owner, Lisa J. Edwards, life in an unexpected and wonderful way. Boo, the runt of an abandoned litter, the dog who took a year to house train, the dog who was deemed the dunce of obedience class, the dog who bumped into things because of his poor eyesight, goes onto to be a true miracle worker changing the lives of many people who he comes in contact with.

There’s the six-year old boy who even after resisting many other forms of therapy for his muteness, tells his mother he loves her for the first time after a visit with Boo. Then there’s the ninety four year old nun  dealing with Alzheimer’s, that forms an incredible bond with Boo.

But the most awesome story is how Boo transforms Lisa life and gives her and her husband the strength and confidence to finally take the emotional step of starting a family of their own, after struggling with their own past abuse.

A Dog Named Boo is a  great read for all of us dog lovers who consider our dogs more than just a pet, they are our friends, our healers, our protectors and our therapists.

Wow….Dakota has changed my life in so many ways. I had always had cats and he was my first dog as an adult…he is full of life, love and has to be the NOISIEST pet I have ever owned but I wouldn’t change him for the world!

Hey Sherman, Hey Leroy, Jet here. Hi Miss Jen.

Mom loves to read, so, I will enter the give-away for her. She LOVES this type of memoir, especially since she did pet therapy with Koko. :)

    Thanks for the lovely review.

All of my dogs (and cats) have enhanced my life greatly. My first dog actually inspired me to get into animal care as a career. Thanks for the giveaway! :)

Our previous rescue dog had to have her leg amputated at only 15 mo. old due to bone cancer. She lived LARGE for another 15 months and taught us a lot about living in the moment and making the most of whatever time we have. I’m atttempting to write a novel that features a ficitionalized version of her. She was a total rock star. Miss that sweet girl. We just lost her in January.

guess I should have clicked the rafflecopter first.

My dogs make my world go round!! We always had dogs when I was a kid, can honestly not remember a time we did not have at least one dog. I could not wait to have my own dog as an adult and can not imagine my life with out them.
