Last week I had the chance to try out the new TheraNeem Herbal Pet Therapy Line from Organix South. Organix South makes therapeutic products that are safe and good for the whole family, pets and planet. All of their products are made in the USA with organic and fairly-trades herbs.
Native to India and Southeast Asia the Neem tree has been used for thousands of years to treat a wide variety of conditions including skin care, oral care, digestive care and much more. Because of it’s broad-spectrum therapeutic properties and it’s ecological impact, Neem can now be found in over 40 countries and is one of the most useful herbs on the planet.
I was sent a Neem Therape Pet Soap and Herbal Outdoor Spray for Pets to try out on Sherman and Leroy.
TheraNeem Herbal Outdoor Pet Soap is said to protect the skin from the challenges of the outdoors.
I am always a little nervous to try any new shampoo product out on the Newfs. I have worked very hard over the years to maintain their beautiful brown coats and when I find a shampoo that works, I stick with it and don’t vary.
In 6 years I have only tried 2 shampoos on them in fear that they might have a reaction and all their fur would fall out. Not to mention the fact that I am sensitive when it comes smells. A strong shampoo smell will leave me with a headache for days.
Which is why when the Neem Pet Soap arrived I started to have second thoughts. The bar of soap had a very strong herbal smell to it, it wasn’t a bad smell just a strong smell and the thought of bathing my dogs for an hour with that smell made me uneasy.
However, I was pleasantly surprised when I began giving Sherman the bath that the smell wasn’t as strong as I thought.
I was also a bit skeptical of using a bar of soap to wash a Newfoundland and I asked that they send me 2 bars of soap because there was no way one bar would be enough.
It took me a bit to get use to using a bar of soap but once I got into the swing of it I kind of enjoyed it. The soap was nice and soft and produced a ton of lather, enough so to get through a double coat and after the bath was all done imagine my surprise when I still had some of the bar left!
The Herbal Outdoor Spray For Pets worked just as well and did not produce a sticky oil feel.
While I wouldn’t use this soap or spray routinely for dog shows and such, I would use it again.
***TheraNeem Pets Line is safe and effective for dogs 12 weeks and older and should not be used on cats due the essential oil content in the product.
****Disclosure-I received 2 bars of the TheraNeem Herbal Outdoor Pet Soap and 1 bottle of the Herbal Outdoor Spray for Pets in return for my honest opinion of this product. All opinions expressed in this post are mine and mine only.

Woof! Woof! LOVE TheraNeem. We did review the Soothing Soap Bar. Yes its so different from using the liquid shampoo. We also received a spray but have not tried it … we will do it this week. Yes the smell was not overwhelming. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
2 brown dawgs says:
I am confused what the spray is used for. Is it a deodorizer? The soap sounds good, if only we bathed the dogs…lol.
Jen says:
The spray is more like an after bathing product. I actually used it as a conditoning spray.
2 brown dawgs says:
That makes sense.
Eva or sometimes Priscilla says:
The soap and spray sound good. We have been using an organic soap for Mika since August and we like it a lot.
houndstooth says:
I’ve never heard of it! I’m leery of trying new products because I’m very sensitive to a lot of cleansers, but this one doesn’t sound too bad.
Bassetmomma says:
Great review! Now that I have seen your review along with Sugar’s, I really would like to try this for Freddie’s itchy skin. It sounds like it could help protect him from outdoor allergens.
Jodi says:
Jen, I’m with two brown dawgs, is the spray for smell or is it a bug repellent?
Jen says:
It’s an after bath product-I used it as a conditioning spray.
Rebelwerewolf says:
I’ve also never heard of bar soap to wash a dog. Did the soap end up looking like a ball of fur afterward, or did you use it all up?
Jen says:
Amazingly the soap looked pretty good after-just the same as a new bar but smaller! I was very surprised that I didn’t use the whole bar on one dog!
Gina@dawsondogs says:
I love the idea of organic dog products.

Jan says:
So many product labels for shampoos have ingredients I can pronounce. This sounds good though a bar soap for dogs is unique.
Two French Bulldogs says:
Thanks for the review. Sure sounds pretty good

Always love the idea of natural, I will be honest I rarely bathe my dogs. They all did get one a couple of weeks ago because they were starting to smell just a little doggy, that was the first bath since Titan and Maia were 7 weeks old and the first ones for Cheyenne and Riva since 2009…lol Fortunately with swimming and just hosing them off they stay pretty clean. But this product sounds pretty nice!
Nichole says:
Glad to hear you had good luck with both products! We received them for review as well and they’re in our “to do” pile!
