Monday Mischief. Leroy And The Puppy.
A few weeks ago I took Leroy over to meet my sister’s new puppy face to face.
Her name is Mesha which means sheep in Hindu.
She’s an adorable little girl but my sister said she’s trouble and she needed Leroy to come and put her in her place.
Of course I wasn’t going to pass up a chance to see Leroy interact with a puppy so I headed over to my parents house to meet my sister and Mesha.
On my way over I called my Dad to make sure it was o.k. that I brought Leroy over. He told me no because all the Christmas decorations were still up and if Leroy knocked the Christmas village over and dismantled the Christmas tree with his tail, there was going to be hell to pay.
Um, I’m pretty sure that’s discrimination Dad because Kristi brought both her dogs to your house.
Whatever.
No means yes.
It meant yes when I was 12 and it means yes now.
Hi Dad!!!
We’re here!
So after I got Leroy nice and snow covered we went into the house to see Mesha.
My Dad greeted us with a smile and a towel, and then he smacked me on the head.
One might say it was a love tap, but I would say it was a love smack.
And Mesha ran away from us.
It wasn’t the warm greeting I was hoping for.
She took one look at Leroy at ran in the opposite direction.
He tried again.
And she ran away.
My sister picked her up and put her next to Leroy and she wouldn’t even look at him.
We tried again and she buried her head in my sisters arm.
I couldn’t believe that this cute little puppy was shunning my dog!
I honestly don’t think she knew what to make of him.
Even though she sees sheep and horses all the time at my sisters house, I’m pretty sure sure she thought Leroy was an alien.
We headed back outside again to see if that might make a difference
But she wouldn’t leave Bobby’s side and kept her eye on every move Leroy made and as soon as Leroy would try making his way over by her she would high tail it out of there.
Time to go! The alien is coming!
For the whole visit she would have nothing to do with Leroy.
The trip wasn’t a total lost though because Leroy got to hang with his girlfriend Dixie.
I’m pretty sure she’s got the hots for him, and I think he’s puffing his chest out a little more than he normally does in this picture:)

January 14, 2013 at 5:53 am (156 days ago)Adorable story and great photos! Rosie did the same thing with Rudy. However, Jeffie looks so much like Rosie’s mama that Rosie sent Jeffie running! lol

January 14, 2013 at 6:46 am (156 days ago)Rooo poor Leroy, not easy being ignored by a puppy! Glad to hear he at least got to meet his girlfriend *Waggy tail*

January 14, 2013 at 7:33 am (156 days ago)Maybe she was just intimidated by the size? I would have just left the two alone without people to see what happened. Maybe the pup is babied a bit too much. At any rate, you tried.

January 14, 2013 at 8:13 am (156 days ago)Little Mesha is such a cutie, she is adorable. So sorry to hear that she shunned Leroy and hope Leroy didn’t take it too hard though.

January 14, 2013 at 8:32 am (156 days ago)Ha ha ha! I bet she’s never seen anything quite like Leroy before! Perhaps she heard that he’s a troublemaker and she was trying not to let it rub off on her…

January 14, 2013 at 8:53 am (156 days ago)Mesha’s reaction is so interesting…I can only wonder what it was about Leroy that concerned her…Maybe as she gets older she’ll be more accepting and eager to make friends

January 14, 2013 at 9:39 am (156 days ago)Our puppy (almost a year old now) is that way with big dogs, but yesterday he greeted a Great Dane without any prompting from me. It was a banner day!
Bailey
January 14, 2013 at 9:52 am (156 days ago)Poor Leroy. Bailey and Katy have found this pocket dog friend. DH called her Katy’s sidecar when we went walking together the other night. Hopefully, she will overcome her fears soon.

January 14, 2013 at 9:54 am (156 days ago)Poor Leroy. Although I have to say, having a puppy that kept getting in my dog’s faces when they didn’t want it, was not fun.
And Mesha is a beauty, what a little love, is she an Australian Cattle dog? I would so love another dog (maybe a bit smaller than the two I have) but right now there’s just no way.
I’m sure as Mesha gets older, she won’t be so intimidated by the large, furry boy.
Happy Monday and thanks for hosting the hop!!

January 18, 2013 at 12:18 am (152 days ago)Mesha is an aussie/corgi mix.

January 14, 2013 at 10:49 am (156 days ago)What a cute puppy, I can see why he would be a little bit leery of Leroy though. Hopefully that will change.

January 14, 2013 at 12:37 pm (156 days ago)I’m sure Mesha will get used to a big lovable doggie like you. Puppies are fickle like that.

January 14, 2013 at 1:42 pm (156 days ago)Mesha is adorable! Once she grows up a little she will realize what a handsome and sweet guy Leroy is!

January 14, 2013 at 1:56 pm (156 days ago)“Whatever Dad, no means yes..” Hilarious!
I just love Leroy and his many adventures. I wanted to also thank you for your advice about Buster and his grooming situation that we had a few months ago. We are taking him back to the old place we used to take him to, and they were appalled that he was muzzled, and had never had to muzzle him before, and I feel totally at ease leaving him there to be groomed. Love and prayers for Sherman today, Jen! Thanks again for being my go-to girl for Newfie questions.

January 14, 2013 at 2:27 pm (156 days ago)Dixieeeeeeee! What a cutie! I’m sure Mesha freaked out because Leroy SMELLS like a dog, but is built more like a sheep or cow. Just not right in a tiny dog’s head. She’ll grow and adjust, I’ll bet.
Blueberry's human
January 14, 2013 at 2:38 pm (156 days ago)I think maybe hanging salami bits off of Leroy would have helped smooth things over with Mesha.
And yes, he is totally puffing himself out for Dixie! What a player!

January 14, 2013 at 2:58 pm (156 days ago)I was laughing out loud through this whole post. “No means yes.” = Classic.
Poor Leroy, I hope his feelings weren’t hurt too much! I’m sure Mesha was just intimidated by Leroy’s awesomeness.
Julie
January 14, 2013 at 3:20 pm (156 days ago)Maybe she is just playing hard to get
Mesha is so cute!!
I’m still laughing about this sentence: “No means yes.
It meant yes when I was 12 and it means yes now.”
Ruby
January 14, 2013 at 3:37 pm (156 days ago)Oh, Poor Leroy!
Maybe she’ll warm up to him when they meet again.
Mesha sure is a cutie, though.
Kisses,

January 14, 2013 at 4:11 pm (156 days ago)Oh poor Leroy dissed by a puppy.

January 14, 2013 at 5:03 pm (156 days ago)Jen, is Dixie a corgi? Man she is cute! No wonder Leroy was standing up straight and smiling! At least she will get next to him. The puppy might need a few more visits. Lol

January 14, 2013 at 6:48 pm (156 days ago)I noticed a couple of people asked what Dixie & Mesha are. Dixie is a blue merle cardigan & Mesha is a blue merle Aussie/cardigan corgi…her dad is a blue merle Aussie! She was a rescue pup from a puppy mill. Thanks for your kind comments! Kristi

January 14, 2013 at 11:29 pm (155 days ago)She is probably establishing herself as the alpha dog by ignoring him until he does her bidding.

January 15, 2013 at 12:54 am (155 days ago)Mesha is really cute, but boy….to be snubbed by a puppy. That must have really got Leroy where it hurts! I’m glad he got to spend time with Dixie though. They make a lovely couple! hehehe
