The Heart That Never Reached It’s Full Potential.

I remember the day like it was yesterday.

It was a cold winter afternoon back in January and I had stopped at Target to get band aids.

On my destination to the aisle where the band aids were I came across a loving display of heart pillows.

They were all big, and soft and heart-like.

I was defintley interested in these big, soft heart pillows because as soon as I saw them I knew they would make a perfect prop for my Valentine photos.

Then I saw the price of $19.95 and I was quickly devastated because there was no way I was going to pay that price for a pillow.

As I was about to stomp my foot and walk away from the display this bright little orange sticker on one of the pink pillows caught my eye.

Could it be?

Was this pillow marked down on clearance?

Could I be that lucky do get the heart pillow of my dream?

Upon further investigation it came to be that the pillow was marked down to $4 and it was being sold as is.

Interesting.

I searched the pillow for any big holes, rips, tears and nothing.

I checked the other pillows and none of them had this pretty orange clearance sticker on them.

I read the sticker again.

$4 as is.

Done. Deal.

It’s mine.

I left Target carrying my band aids and big, pink, soft heart pillow with a huge smile on my face.

I had BIG plans for this pillow

I had thoughts of love scenes and everything for this pillow.

I was going to take amazing Valentine pictures with this pillow.

Best Valentines Pictures EVER I was going to have.

Best Valentines Day post EVER I was going to have.

Yeah.

Today’s’ Valentines Day.

The pillow is still sitting on my bed where I put it the first day I brought it home. (except of course for these pictures)

Don’t get me wrong, I thought about the pillow a lot and I found myself holding it in the middle of the night on more than one occasion.

But it never reached it’s full photo prop potential.

The good news is that along the way the big pink heart pillow found a small red heart pillow friend.

So they can be lonely and potential-less together…………….forever.

Happy Valentines Day to all of our friends and family! I hope you are spending the day with someone you love.

XOXO,

Jen-author of the worst Valentines Day post, ever.

We know you see those names each time you look at those pillows, so they have reached their potential. Besides, just being cuddled is their potential.

Sigh! I felt a tear roll down my cheek when I realized the pink heart pillow now had a friend. Thank goodness.

I have bought things like this with the intention of using them in pictures. Sometimes the best intentions…

That was a nice post… sweet. Interesting that it was marked down. It reminds me of when I found another Baxter stuffed dog at a garage sale last year. The only difference between it and the one I had since I was 10 years old (and still have) is that it was a little bigger and holding a big red heart in its mouth.

What a sad post. But so familiar, since that is what I do with most things I bring home as photo props. I actually did get around to my Valentine shoot this year though!

I didn’t find this post sad at all! I was happy that the pillow is sitting on your bed, where it belongs, and now it has a little heart friend. Love is seeing the potential of another and also accepting them as is. Happy V-day!

Jen I looked at the story differently…I saw two misifts, not quite living up to others’ expectations, who found each other and make the perfect oddball couple…that’s true love and a great Valentine’s story :)

Cute post. I bought a similar pink pillow at Target, except mine is fluffy with swirls. I pull it out and put it on the blue sofa at this time of year. The rest of the year it lives in the storage closet. At least your pillow had potential to try to live up to. My pillow didn’t dream very big I guess… I think my pillow is now sadder than your pillow.

    :(

    Happy V-Day.

Hee hee hee! Well, all I can say is Target is the place for irresistible photo props! I couldn’t resist the giant frog prince pillow, either. I am thinking hard about going in tomorrow to see if those big heart pillows are on sale, though. I loved them, too! There’s always next year…

I’m looking at the names on those pillows and thinking they hold an awful lot of love! Good luck with the raw diet…I’ve never tried it…knock on wood, I never had too. You may have addressed this already, but could surgery help with those ears? Sending healthy thoughts your way!
