BlogPaws Bound

On Thursday I’m heading to my first ever BlogPaws conference and I am SUPER excited.

The conference this year is held in Tyson Corner, Virginia and is THE biggest blogging conference for pet bloggers.

For those of you who are not familiar with what BlogPaws is, let me explain that first:

“BlogPaws is a Social Media Company focused on teaching pet enthusiasts how to use social media effectively. They also work year round to connect bloggers and micro-bloggers to the brands they buy every day. Their online community site is for pet bloggers, pet enthusiasts, pet people on Twitter and Facebook and brands eager to tap into a growing, vibrant, vocal community of serious writers, bloggers, tweeters.”

They are the go-to resource for pet people and brands to partner on projects and campaigns, to be educated on social media, and to arrange face-to-face meetings all over the country.

Additionally,  BlogPaws is committed to supporting bloggers and pet enthusiasts everywhere, and brands that embrace the Be the Change for Pets channel. BlogPaws supports many efforts across the web that help pets in need, they work to bring attention to issues surrounding animal welfare and to show the world that “pets are people, too!”

Now about the BlogPaws Conference

BlogPaws conferences bring together hundreds of pet parents eager to hone their online publishing skills, inspire and collaborate with each other on business projects and pet welfare causes, and connect with the companies who sponsor their events.

BlogPaws attracts expert and inspirational speakers, from TV personalities (Andrea Arden, Rescue Ink, even Tillman the Skateboarding Bulldog!), to social platform experts (Squidoo, StumbleUpon, Tout, BlogHer), to legal presenters on copyright and ecommmerce concerns (FTC and private counsel), and dozens more.

Pretty cool right?!

So what will I be doing there?

Most importantly I will be there to learn all I can about how to make this blog better, hopefully meet and connect with several brands AND  I also will get to meet a few online friends that I’ve been dying to meet for years!

I’ll have quite a busy schedule, attending several conferences during the day where I’ll be learning about SEO, FTC guidelines, the future of blogging, etc…

Then at night I’ll be attending several fun events including on Saturday night,  The Nose to Nose to Awards, of which one of Leroy’s photo is a finalist in the Best Photo On a Blog category, and I am so honored to of been chosen as a finalist! AND David Frei, the spokesperson for the Westminster Kennel Club and founder of Angel on a Leash, will be the celebrity emcee for the awards ceremony!! I am SUPER excited about that because I’m a dog show geek!  It’s also a red carpet event so I’ll be all dressed up and wearing heels! Oh My!

I’ll be driving down to the event and I will be going solo.

Going solo was a tough decision because at first I was going to bring Leroy with me but then decided against it for several reasons, but that’s OK, fun things and sometimes stupid things, happen when I’m left unattended without adult or dog supervision for 4 days.

It’s all good.

For all my blogging friends that I haven’t met that are attending the conference I won’t be holding a sign say “Hi I’m Jen from My Brown Newfies”. Just look for the short brunette, wandering around aimlessly with a BIG smile on her face.
