The kids are now officially on summer break and I couldn’t be happier for them. They had a crappy school year with the 8 week teachers strike and they deserve to have a summer filled with fun so I was super excited to see their faces gleaming when they got off of the bus for the last time this school year.
Now the hard part begins for me. Planning fun things to do.
They’re at different stages in their life. Bobby’s all about hanging out with his friends as much as he can and Gracie has friends but is more about hanging out with Mom. So there’s going to be a lot of Gracie and Mom time, which is fine with me, but I still have to find a happy medium for things we can all enjoy together.
I have a small list of things that I think will work and one of them is geocaching.
I first learned about geocaching from our blogging friend Gizmo’s Mom over at Terrier Torrient. At first I really didn’t understand it but as I became more familiar with it from Gizmo’s blog I was intrigued and it seems like a really fun thing thing to do with the kids and even something that I could bring Sherman or Leroy along to do with us.
I did a little bit of research and found that there is places right in my town where we can start but I still have a little bit more to learn about it so hopefully we will be ready to do this in a few weeks.
I promise to post about it when we do it!
Meanwhile, Gracie’s already made her list of things she wants us do:
- Go to the beach
- Walk the dogs
- Give the dogs a bath
- Help mom with the blog
- Eat ice cream
- Swim in the pool
- Brush the dogs
- Sell lemonade
- Play soccer
- Shop for school supplies (wtf?)
Pretty good list if you ask me. Except for the school supply thing, we don’t do that until the day before school starts silly girl!
