Cool Healthy Ice Pup Treats For Dogs

DSC_0266

The weather this summer has just been crazy. It started off unbelievably hot, than crazy rainy, than unseasonable cool and now we’re having a major heat wave.

I can’t seem to get a handle on it and neither can the dogs. One week the air conditioner is off and the windows are wide open and we’re all in sweatshirts, and the next week the air conditioner is running non stop and no one wants to move from the cool vents.

That’s how it is this week. HOT and neither Sherman or Leroy want to move from the air conditioner vents. Which is why I’m glad I waited to try out these Ice Pup treats that the The Honest Kitchen sent me a few months ago.

They’re a “make-at-home” cool treat for sunny days and they are super to easy to make. All you have to do is mix one packet with 1 cup of warm water, stir or whisk, pour into ice cubes trays of your choosing and freeze.

DSC_0260 Since it’s just about football season and I’m very happy about that, I choose to use some of my football and smiley face candy molds instead of ice cub trays, you know, to make it super fun and cute.

They came out pretty good and Sherman and Leroy enjoyed them.

DSC_0263 The ingredients in the ice pups are totally healthy and will make you feel good about giving your dog a nice cool healthy treats on a miserably hot day!

The ingredients are as followed: dehydrated chicken, turkey, whey, dandelion, asparagus, watercress, honey and parsley, and for you calorie counters there is 76 Kcal per packet, so adjust your diet accordingly if you are watching your weight.

And for you tiny freeze pups who need something to warm you up during the winter months the ice pups can be made into steamy pups! All you do is mix the packet with warm water, let it cool so you don’t burn your mouth and serve it in a bowl or over your dog’s food! How fun is that?!

**Disclosure-I received Ice Pup packets from The Honest Kitchen as part of their blogger program for free in return for my honest review of this product. All opinions expressed here are mine and mine only.

I have heard about these and think it's such a great idea. I make a pumpkin / plain yogurt mixture that is frozen for our dogs. They love it.

Oh, those look good - I mean... not to me, but for Rita! She's so fussy though. I never know what will go over well with her and what won't!

My husband's coworker gave us something similar and it came with a ice tray that had little bone shaped cubes. So cute! The dogs loved it.

Crazy weather here too. Mother Nature is just having a field day with us! BOL!
