What’s That Smell In My Car?

Due to Sherman’s hydrotherapy sessions I’ve had a wet dog in my car twice a week for over a month.

If I was the genius that I claim to be I would put towels or some protective cover down in my car to try and keep the interior from getting wet, but obviously I only use my genius skills for serious matters.

So my car smells like wet stale dog.

It smells BAD.

So bad that the kids got in it the other day and they both started gagging.

I sprayed some pretty cinnamon pumpkin spray to try and mask the smell but then we had wet dog and cinnamon mixed together and we all almost puked so we had to evacuate the car for a few minutes and let it air out.

The fresh air helped but the smells is still there and I fear that the kids might never ride in my car again so the other day when I went to get in it and was hit hard in the face by the smell of wet stale dog the little woman in my head told me to go and get the air purifier that I got from the BlogPaws conference to review.

This little compact air purifier is amazing and I’m not kidding.

Here’s how it works:

The CritterZone creates a charged flow that circulates through your environment, continually cleaning the air. The charged flow removes unwanted particles from indoor air, almost the same way that Mother Nature does it outdoors, which results in fresher, cleaner air that is healthier to breathe.

It’s little but it’s amazing and it can restore the air up to 800 square feet and it can plug into an outlet in your home or you can get an attachment to plug it into your car like I did!

So did it work in my smelly wet stale dog mobile?

You bet your bottom dollar it did!

At first I plugged the CritterZone into my car outlet and set it right next to me on the middle console. The smell got better but it didn’t go away so the little woman in my head told me that was probably because the smell was coming from the back of my car and maybe I should the put the CritterZone on the back seat closer to the horrid smell. So I did and in just a few minutes my Chevy Suburban smelled glorious.

Alight. Maybe not glorious, but it definitely did not smell like wet stale dog anymore and the cool thing was that the cord was long enough to reach from the front outlet to the middle seats with cord room to spare!

I even had the kids jump in and see if they noticed a difference, and while they were hesitant because they were having flashbacks of days past, I bribed them to sit in the car and take a sniff.

They were impressed and neither one gagged, which says a lot.

So if they’re impressed, I’m impressed.

You should it check it out.

Wow. The unit is bigger than I thought it would be. I imagined a little thingies that stuck out of the cigarette lighter. Hey, if it works though......

Wet dog smell does not bother me, I'm getting use to my car smelling. Leaving poop overnight, now that bothered me. :-D

So this is great to know because I just recently got a dog and he goes everywhere with me. I put on his small dog harness and we're off. The problem is he doesn't make it smell the best and I was reading online about the CritterZone and found your site. Sounds like it's battled tested and approved. Thanks!
