I love fall…or autumn.
It’s always been my favorite season of the year for various reasons.
I love the fall colors, I love sweater weather. I love Halloween and of course I love everything pumpkin, especially pumpkin spice.
Right now my house has been taking over by every pumpkin scent you can think of.
Sweet cinnamon pumpkin, pumpkin cupcake, pumpkin glazed doughnut, apple pumpkin…..you get the picture.
Every room is a different pumpkin scent.
But I kinda feel sorry for my husband who isn’t a big fan of pumpkin spice scents.
“Do we have anything that’s NOT pumpkin scented?” he asked me the other day.
“Negative Ghost Rider. The house is full of pumpkin spice” I said.
You’ll also find various pumpkin items in my house such as ceramic pumpkins, fiber-optic pumpkins, scary pumpkins, happy pumpkins and just pumpkin pumpkins.
I also like to spread the pumpkin love with Sherman and Leroy.
They get pumpkin at other times of the year but I try to make it a little more special around this time and pumpkin is one of the very few things that Leroy can eventually have in moderation.
So I was super excited when Fruitables asked if I would like a sample of their canned Pumpkin Digestive Supplement and Pumpkin & Mango soft treats.
The pumpkin digestive supplement we have used in the past as a topper on food and the treats are a bit small for a big dog like a Newfoundland but they make excellent picture taking bribes for Sherman and they are low in calories.
I kept things simple and used the pumpkin latte approach.
First I made the pumpkin spiced latte. Super simple and you get the full recipe here but it’s basically a few tablespoons of pumpkin mixed with a package of Pro Bloom* from The Honest Kitchen and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
It’s seems like Sherman very much enjoyed splashing his tongue around in his pumpkin latte.
Next I poured some of the latte mixture into pumpkin candy molds that I have and put them in the freezer for about 20 minutes and we had frozen pumpkin lattes!
I dipped a few Buddy Biscuits from Cloudstar in pumpkin too because Buddy informed that because he is made from peanut butter he would go really good with some pumpkin latte.
The other fun thing I did with the pumpkin latte mixture was I mixed some of the Fruitables Pumpkin Mango treats in and then stuffed our carrot with it and froze it for a few hours.
Sherman was delighted with this little creation.
I kept our pumpkin adventures easy but if your looking for some super fun and creative treats to make you should totally check out these fantastic peanut butter and pumpkin treats from Kol’s Notes and then check out these adorable Pumpkin and cheese mummies with googley eyes.
Oh….and one little snack that I was thinking might be good for dogs with diet restrictions like Leroy’s may be plain rice cakes dipped in a little bit of canned pumpkin. Of course, it would be best to check that out with your veterinarian first!
So tell me, do you pumpkin everything this time of the year or not so much?
**We received free products from Fruitables that were mentioned in this post. I’m a fan of their products and regularly use them and would of mentioned them regardless. I just bought their Strawberry and Greek Yogurt* crunchy treats and I absolutely can not wait to get my hands on their new Vanilla Snowflake treats that are made from real snowflakes!
