Summer isn’t a favorite season around here with Sherman and Leroy.
The heat.
The humidity.
The sun.
The lack of mud.
These are all things that Newfies could do without out.
They’re more of a breed that thrives for cold.
Mud.
Subzero temperatures and icicles.
Despite not being a fan of summer they do excel at some activities that other, more summer-like breeds, may not.
If you have a dog that’s in a similar situation as them here are 8 jobs that they might actually enjoy doing this summer.
Frisbee Tester.
Yep.
It’s a Frisbee.
It’s also a chin rest.
It’s a two-fer!
Nope don’t want to fetch it.
Too hot.
I’ll revisit that request when there are 10 inches of snow on the ground.
Until then I’ll just keep it right here under my chin.
Air Conditioner Maintenance.
The most important job of the summer.
Make sure all the vents are blowing cool air in the summer.
Breathe it in.
Breathe it out.
Is it cooling my butt properly?
But why do I have to share the cool air with the rest of the family?
Pool Dog.
Who else is going to test the water and make sure all 2 inches of it are at the proper temperature and free of harmful chemicals so nobody’s dog fur gets damaged?
Please no drinking or peeing in the pool.
Ceramic Tile Tester.
Some dog has to make sure the ceramic tile is sustaining cool temperatures in a heatwave.
Yep.
It’s working.
The tile is cooler than my body temperature. Ahhhh…….
Tennis Ball Protector.
Do you know how many tennis balls go missing in the summer?
They roll under bushes, get stolen out of yards, and get lost in the pond.
Some dog has to protect them all so they don’t wind up at the pound.
Cooling Mat Tester.
Roll on.
Roll off.
It’s a tough job but some dog has to compare what’s cooler: Hot cement or the pet cooling mat?
Hot. Cold. Hot.Cold.
Let me try that again.
Hot Cold. Hot. Cold.
Ice Cube Tester.
Ice cubes are one of the most popular treats in the summer!
Some dog has to make sure they are adequate for consumption.
Ice Cream Tester.
Quite possibly the best job that there is.
Just make sure you keep it to vanilla. (fake ice cream toy pictured)

The boys look like they take their jobs very seriously...although someone does look a bit asleep on the job of protecting that tennis ball. :)
