Post Christmas

We hope that everyone had a great Christmas with their families and loved ones. Here at the My Brown Newfies homestead we sure did.

It always amazes me how fast the holidays go. So much preparation and stress and it’s over in minutes.  My main goal at Christmas is to always make sure that the kids have a happy Christmas and since that was accomplished I had a happy Christmas. It came with a small emotional breakdown on Christmas Eve day but it was a much needed emotional breakdown that I’m sure many can relate to. A walk with Leroy and some time sitting on a big tree branch in the woods sobbing was what I needed to pull myself back together. Even big girls break once in awhile, right? Right.

I can now say that I have a cleaner, fresher head on my shoulders to head into 2016 with and that is exactly what I needed.

One of the highlights of my Christmas was giving the kids both a present that they wanted but weren’t expecting. It came with a small practical joke and my gift was seeing how respectful they were when getting a gift that they thought was their “real” gift when it wasn’t even close. A reassuring gift that we are doing something right in this parenting thing.

Another highlight was an unexpected gift that my husband got me from Sherman and Leroy. The brown Newfie carry on luggage that was on my wish list.

I couldn’t believe that he actually got his hands on one! I thought for sure everyone would of snatched those up!  He said there was 2 left at our local Walmart, which totally makes sense since I’m the only one with a brown Newf in this county. Haha! When I posted about the luggage on social media it seems that quite a few Newfie owners were also lucky enough to score to one of these hot babies. That means I think we should all write our names on them because you never know when we might be in the same airport!  😉 What if I have a million dollars in my carry on and you only five dollars and we get them mixed up?

We don’t want that happening.

One more highlight was giving Sherman and Leroy there toys. I was able to find a yellow Air Dog toy that Sherman doesn’t have and he was super excited about it until Leroy grabbed the ball and ran around the house. In Sherman’s eyes, the ball is now tainted.

Leroy wasn’t too impressed about his Rudolph toy, but he warmed up to it over the weekend. I think it’s a squeaker thing. The squeaker just isn’t up to his qualifications.

This week I’ll be working on Sherman and Leroy’s New Year’s resolutions. I don’t so resolutions anymore but the boys said they had some goals that they wanted to put out this time so I agreed to write it down for them.

Aren't hubbys the best when they get us? I just LOVE that suitcase! Hug the dogs when life gets you down. It truly seems to help. Here is to a new year and more great blogs!

It sounds like you all had a wonderful Christmas, and I'm so glad you got what you wished for! I can so relate to the toy struggles with the dogs (though my dogs are opposite...Luke does not think a toy is cool until one of his sisters has it first), and the good needed cry....that is therapeutic and much needed for the soul, especially for big girls.

That luggage is awesome! How cool! I haven't been around much, either. So much to do for the holidays as well as kid birthdays. Gah! I'm glad your Christmas was a good one!
