2015-Our Year In Review

I saw over at My GBGV Life that Emma and her mom did a fun post looking back at their accomplishments of 2015 and I thought it sounded like a great idea so I wanted to join in and share our year in review.

It’s a great way for me to look back and see how the blog’s doing, what works and what doesn’t.

2015 wasn’t a bad year for us. As far as life in general, there’s been worse and there’s been better. It was a middle of the road year. It certainly came with ups and downs and there’s definitely room for improvement.

As far as the blog goes, it was the same as above. Middle of the road. I got what I  put into it and the straight up fact is that I could of put more into it. I tend to zone out at the end of the year so I ended up weak but we still had great moments!

Let’s get to it!

Top 3 Blog Posts of 2015

So You Think You Want A Show Dog. Here’s 9 Things You Should Know.

eukanuba 0591

This post was shared far and wide and even ended up highlighted in a few online forums and online magazines. I’m very proud of the success of this piece seeing as there is so much negativity that surrounds the show world. I’m glad that I could shine some light here.

The Secret Grey Dot Inside A Dog’s Black Nail.

I let the cat out of the bag on this one! It was one of those posts that you are hesitant to hit publish on because you don’t know if everyone already knows this is fact or not. In this case it was the not. The only thing I don’t understand is why I didn’t write this post sooner.

Meet The Newfoundland. 20 Fun Facts About The Newfie.

This post was written for National Purebred Dog Day and was my most tweeted, shared and viewed post of all time in one single day. The numbers were outstanding and made me smile because it was all about the breed that I love.

Top Blog Accomplishment.

Attending the Blogpaws conference and winning the award for Best Humor Blog. I still think about it to this to this day. I was so shocked and honored it literally left me in tears and speechless. To win an award for doing what I love is such an accomplishment and to have the support of so many bloggers is AWESOME.

Leroy’s Top Moment.

I got my Roy back this year. After 2 years of medical nightmares, Leroy came back to us in full force and continues to thrive. ZERO rocks were consumed this year by Leroy which hasn’t happened in over 6 years. Dare I say he is the healthiest he’s been in quite some time.

Sherman’s Top Moment.

Sherman turned 9 this year and continues to do well. He’s my sweet boy and while he moves at a slower pace, he’s still moving. We continue to treat his osteoarthritis and he continues to respond well with those treatments. Also, Sherman has finally realized that the camera won’t hurt him or explode if he looks at it.

My Proud Moment

Having 2 senior Newfs in the house that thrive. Anyone who has Newfs knows that things can change at a drop of a hat when you have Newfoundlands, not to mention senior Newfs. The fact that we made it through 365 days without any major health scares makes me smile.

So many to choose from but it has to be this one:

I see Leroy coming back to life in this one. He’s breathing sickness out and life in.

There’s quite a few to choose from this year since after 9 years Sherman is finally starting to warm up to the camera. After going back and forth it has to be this one.

You can just see the sweetness oozing off of him. Seriously. That’s sweetness not water dripping from him 🙂

Top Referrer to the blog in 2015:

Facebook. By a landslide. Twitter came in a far second.

FacebOOOOOOk. My worst enemy. The social media thorn in my side.  But my top referrer. Go figure. Facebook I will never figure you out, you bastard.

Funnest Post.

The Newf Of Sleepy Hollow

Had to be The Newf Of Sleepy Hollow. I love writing shit like this and Leroy is an awesome sport. Sure….. I almost cut off the headless horseman’s arms in a fit of rage and threw them in the woods,  but it was still a fun post.

So that’s a wrap for 2015. Did I miss anything? What we’re your favorite moments of 2015?

We hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year! See ya next year!

Stay tuned for Leroy’s New Year’s Resolutions……coming Friday!

You had a wonderful year...congratulations! I haven't really been in the mood to look back on the year yet, but I probably will at some point. Can't wait to see what you have in store for 2016, and we sure hope the boys' continue to thrive! It truly is a blessing to have healthy seniors, especially when you have gone through such tough times to get there.

Thanks Jan! I think this might be the first time I did a post like this at the end of year. It kind of gave me a boost because I didn't think we had that stellar of a year but when I look at the whole piece of the puzzle we did!

Thanks for the good wishes for Sherman and Leroy. I'm hoping to enjoy their senior years with them peacefully!

Thanks so much Taryn! That really does mean a lot because sometimes I feel like I get in a rut here and lose my humor. I felt a lot of that this year but all of a sudden I have a burst of energy and I'm hoping so hard that it sticks! Happy New Year!
