The Night Creepers

DSC10781-1024x685

I’ve been having a little issue with night creepers lately.

A few weeks ago Gracie was having a difficult time sleeping so she would come in my room and stand next to the side of my bed and stare at me.

I’m a pretty hard sleeper but if someone is staring at me while I’m sleeping I wake up. Seriously. I slept through a severe thunderstorm a few weeks ago. Everybody was talking about how bad it was in the morning and I was like, “Interesting. I didn’t hear a thing.”

The first, second and third time that  I woke up to Gracie staring at me in the middle of the night I jumped so high I almost fell out of bed.

The fourth time I screamed and actually fell out of bed and that’s when I told her. “You can’t do that. If you need to wake me up just walk in my room and nudge me. STOP STARING AT ME. It’s creepy. Don’t you ever watch scary movies? Like when the possessed little girl is staring at her mother sleeping right before she stabs her to death? You know what? You’re going to church tomorrow ”

So we dealt with that. Actually, I think I freaked her out to the point that she may never wake me up in the middle of the night again because a few nights ago she woke up my husband 🙂

Then Leroy started being a creeper. I guess it was contagious that week and lucky for me he was more of a morning creeper than a middle of the night creeper but it was still creepy.

So then I had to have the talk with Leroy. “Look Roy, It’s creepy when you do that. Not like 11 year old girl creepy but still creepy. It would be better if you just barked at me and scared the crap out of me that way.”

Amazingly he took that talk to heart and the next morning I woke up to him sitting over me in my bed. It’s way less creepy that way.

So how about you? Do you have any night creepers at your house?

I think it's a child's rights of passage to torment their parents that way. Mine certainly did it!!

My dogs may be small but they can still scare the bejeepers out of me! Especially in the winter, they are often without clanging collars when it's snowy and they stay on our deck, I will look down (most often while trying to sneak dessert in the kitchen) to at least one pooch staring at me! Car-Li stares at me for who knows how long when she wants to go out in the morning, then she literally crawls to me from across the bed, it's wonderful waking up smiling! Growing up my sisters and I would "occasionally" come in past curfew, often with fast food. Our dog Ashe-Li used to bribe us to share by threatening to bark and wake our parents up if we didn't share! Very clever!

Sometimes Sampson stares at me and I do have a story for you, but it's best told in person. :-D
