Dear Sherman On Your 10th Birthday,

Dear Sherman,

Boy, where did the time go? It seems like just yesterday that we were driving home from Michigan with you. You were so nervous and wouldn’t sit by me in the car.  It wasn’t the warm embrace that I was dreaming about for years before I met you.

Even after we got you home and situated, you still weren’t as into me as I was into you.

You came around through and when you did……it was everything I dreamed of.

Since then you have been by my side through thick and thin.

You’re never far from me.

You’ve helped me raise the kids. You’ve helped me keep them in check.

From room to room, where I go……you go.

You sleep right outside my bedroom door so you’re the last one I see at night and the first one that I see in the morning.

I remember when Leroy came home and I snuggled up next to you and whispered in your ear, “You’ll always be my baby.” I didn’t want you to feel left out or feel that some other dog was going to take any love that was meant for you. That would never happen Sherman.

You are the perfect Newfoundland in my eyes.

You’re the best Newfoundland a wife, mother and woman could have.

Thank you for always being there for me.
