If you’re looking for a festive way to kick of the holiday season you might want to check out your local Christmas tree farm and see what type of fun events kick off this weekend. There’s a handful of Christmas tree farms across that the country that will proudly be hosting events that include dogs, specifically Newfoundlands, who have volunteered their time to help haul your Christmas tree!

This is a great chance for you to get out and support your fellow Newfies, and if you’ve been looking to get a Newfoundland, this is a great way to see the breed in action and talk to many educated people who can help answer any questions that you might have.

Here’s a short list of some of the hauling events that I’ve found going on in the next few weeks.

Moore Tree Farm. Located in Groton, New York. This event takes place Saturday, November 25th from 11am-2pm EST.  Genesee Region Newfoundland Club will be there with their Newfies to haul your tree from the field to the processing area. All donations will benefit the NCA Newfoundland Dog Charitable Trust Rescue.

Enchanted Winds Tree Farm. Located in Issaquah, Washington. The event takes place on Saturday, November 25th from 10am-2pm PST.  The Newfoundland Club of Seattle will be there with their Newfies that will haul your tree from the field. Cart rides for small children will be available also. There will be a grand prize for the Newfie that hauls the most Christmas trees.

Country Heritage Farm. Located in Augusta, New York. The event takes place on Saturday, November 25th. Newfoundland dogs will be there to haul your tree from the field. Call ahead for exact time.

Country Side Trees. Located in Walwort, Wisconsin. The event takes places November 24th-26th 11am-3pm. Newfies will be on hand to pull your tree from the field to the processing area. I’m not sure what club will be there representing the Newfies.

Saltsman’s Christmas Tree Farm. Located in Rhinebeck, New York. This event takes place Saturday, December 2nd from 11am-3pm EST.  Bear Mountain Newfoundland Club will be there with their Newfies to haul your tree from the field to the Christmas shop.

Dull’s Tree Farm. Located in Thorntown, Indiana.  The event takes place on Sunday, December 3. 12-4pm EST.  The SCNC will be on the farm with their Newfies and the dogs will pull your tree from the field to the processing area. Some pull a cart, or a sled, some pull a tarp. They work alone or in teams. Tips and donations benefit South Central Newfoundland Club. This is one of the biggest events that takes place on the farm so be prepared for a crowd.

Bishop Farms. Located in Springfield, Vermont. This event takes place on Sunday, December 3rd from 10am-3pm EST.  Hosted by the Newfoundland Club of New England. Newfs will be on hand to haul trees or to give you a smooch.

Plow Farms. Located in Mohnton, Pennsylvania.  Saturday, December 9th. I’m waiting for more information to be posted on this event.

Hambrick’s Christmas Tree Farm. Located in Hahira, Georgia. This event takes place Sunday, December 10th from 1pm-5:30pm. This will be the first Christmas tree pull event held here and anyone is welcome, whether your Newfoundland can help pull trees, or you just want to bring your Newfoundland to be a meet/greeter.

This is what I’ve found advertised so far, if you know of any others please let me know and I will add it to the list.

If you’re lucky enough to be able to attend one of these events make sure to support the regional club by providing the Newfie who hauls your tree a tip or make a donation to the club.  These Newfies are working hard for other Newfies!

Sounds like fun events, would love to pick a tree and have a Newf pull it in. Am sure everyone will have a wonderful time. Unfortunately no place close enough to get tree home :(
