How To Make Sugar Lips In Your Backyard

One of my favorite things about winter is sugar lips.

I love seeing the boys with a fresh coating of snow outlining their mouths.

It looks like they’ve just taken a bite out of a sugar donut.

Or stuck their head in a bowl of powdered sugar, sneezed and came out with a magnificent work of art covering their entire face and chest.

In case you’re wondering how you too can make sweet sugar lips, it’s quite easy but here’s a step by step guide that you can follow:

Supplies that you’ll need:

  • Backyard covered in snow
  • Semi-wet mush.

Directions:

  • Walk outside into your backyard that is covered in fresh fallen snow.
  • Give your lips a good lick
  • Lightly dunk your head into a snow pile
  • Lift your head up and look deep into your owner’s eyes

For a more dramatic effect, take a drink of fresh water before you got outside, be messy about it and let it drip down your chest. Find a deep pile of fresh fallen snow to lay down in, submerge your head and part of your chest in the fresh snow for 2.5 seconds, slowly lift your head and smile.

That’s it! It’s that easy to make sugar lips right in the comfort of your own backyard!

**Please note that effects may vary depending on your snow. Freshly fallen fluffy snow usually yields the best results but if you have stale snow that’s been around for a few days that will work too. Just try to remove the top layer with your paw and get to the fluffy stuff. As always please stay away from using yellow snow to make sugar lips. This results in more of a lemon donut look and that’s not the look we’re trying to achieve here. It will also result in less kisses from your owners.

I love how you describe your life now owned by your newfies. :) I don't have a full blooded newfie (daddy Must be been a lab giggolo...lol) but my Po stole my heart the minute he rescued me. He, along with my St. Pyrenees and my Dobie make my life happier, fuller and worth living. I'm sure your guys do as well. Keep up the great blog! Love it.

Oh, these pix make me smile ear to ear! I remember when Kissy (my own first dog) was about 6 months old. She was a (large) toy poodle, about 9/10 inches tall, and cute as a button. We got snow on Thanksgiving weekend (I was still on LI); and the first thing Kissy did when I took her out was put her whole face in one of the drifts and pushed the snow with her little snout. She looked up at me - proud as a peacock - and she had a face full of snow. She was so darn cute!! Glad I had my camera with me! The photo is around here somewhere.

Sugar lips huh? I'll be sure to let Jaxson give it a whirl next month - rumor has it, the snows coming back to the South!
