What’s Eating Jenny Jugs?

First let me explain the nickname Jenny Jugs.

Jenny Jugs is not due to my over-sized breasts, because believe me they are anything but over-sized. They are actually quite small. They use to be bigger when I was chubbier but then I lost a lot of weight and somewhere along the way I lost my breasts too, which now makes my husband a little sad.

I’ve already said to much, I know.

Anyway, Jenny Jugs is a nickname that was given to me about 7 years ago when  I first began learning how to draw blood from a dog’s jugular vein. I was a so called “natural” and so the girls at work gave me the nickname Jenny Jugs and I have been called that ever since. Sometimes they call me Jugs for short.

So now about the eating part, of which I am referring to the book/movie “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.” Now before we go any further let me say that I am not at all thinking about leaving my family, as dysfunctional as we may be. I mean every family is dysfunctional in some shape or form and mine is no exception and I love that we are dysfunctional. It makes us real.

Oh, and I don’t live my 600 pound mother. I mean my mother is not 600 pounds and I don’t live with her.

So now that we have that straight, what is eating Jenny Jugs?

That is a very question.

For the past few months I just haven’t been myself. I seem to have lost my sassiness and my motivation. I have been told by certain people in my life that I am a “nightmare to be around lately. Of course the last few weeks didn’t help any of this and I kind of sunk deeper into a hole. The fact that I’m normally a person who fairs well under pressure, except for the last few months, didn’t really seem to help my situation.

A New Year And A New Image

We’re starting the New Year off with a brand spakin new image.

Now I realize that it’s not quite the new year yet but I’ve been sitting on this image for the last 2 weeks and I’m ready to show it off.

Ever since I started blogging over 2 years ago I have wanted a fun cartoon image for this blog but I never got around to actually getting out there and finding someone who could create it for me.

Last month, thanks to Kimberly from Keep the Tail Wagging, I found Shawnna from Lovelytocu. Shawnna is a very talented graphic artist based in Yorkshire England and she specializes in “providing ready made clip art graphics for small businesses, hobbyists and crafters… or for people who just love to blog!”

Shawnna also does custom work for people, like me, who are looking for their very own graphic image for their site.

The whole process was quite simple.

1. Pick a girl image that was similar to me. Dark hair, green eyes and totally cute and sassy. (lol) and pick out an outfit.

2. Decide if I wanted both the dogs to look the same or different. This was a decision that took a little bit of thought because to me, Sherman and Leroy look totally different, but to the everyone else they look the same. I decided to go with both dogs looking the same and then Shawnna decided to have one dog with their mouth closed and one open with a little bit of tongue sticking out. This worked well for me.

3. The image of the dogs was the most difficult thing for me. I had the idea that I wanted the dogs to look exactly like the silhouette of a Newfoundland and Shawnna and I went back and forth several times with images. Bigger paws. Broader chest. Bigger head. The head is important. Squarer nose.

Finally I came to the realization that this is a graphic cartoon image. Me and the Newfs are not suppose to really look like ourselves. It’s a fun image.

Blogging Bloopers. Do You Have Any?

Let’s face it, blogging bloopers happen to all of us.

No matter how careful we are, no matter how many times we proof read, sometimes we slip up.

Right? Please tell me I’m not alone here.

Please?

Sometimes I think I am the queen of blogging bloopers. They happen to me all the time and I am left banging my head against the computer desk.

DOH!

Here are some blogging bloopers that I am known for:

Typos

Some of my regular blogging bloopers are typos.

Even with spell check, I still manage to make countless errors.

Take my post the other day about How I Trained My Dogs To Pee In A Bowl.

I spelled pepper wrong. Peeper is what came out.

One of my Twittter buddies called me out on it and I just laughed. I decided to leave it because, well……  peeper worked  in the post too. We were talking about pee and peppers so peeper is now a new pepper hybrid.

Bobby is another one that fumbles me up. Booby is sometimes what comes out and I don’t catch it. Yes I call my son a Booby, but not on purpose. Caren from Dakota’s Den called me out on that one and of course I immediately changed it.

There and their is another one that hangs me out to dry too. Obviously I know the difference but sometimes my fingers are faster than my eyes and I  just don’t catch it for a few days after the post is live. It’s embarrassing because most of you have already read it and just chalked it up to another typo of mine.

Chose and Choose. Seriously what was I doing in grade school?

Sherman’s registered name is The Chosen One. That is how I figure it out, Sherman is not The Choosen One. So therefore my choice now is to choose, because that is what I chose to do. Ha!

I will not ever be able to repeat that.

Titles and tags.

My blogging bloopers aren’t confined to just typos either. A few times I have forgotten to title my post. I remember seeing it one time in my blog feed and I was like, WTH?  Who stole my title? Oops. My bad.

Tagging gets me a lot too., but WP is making it a lot easier, when I remember. I think I need an alarm to go off when I forget tags. TAGS!TAGS!TAGS!

Blog Hops

Blog Hops are another blooper of mine. More than my fair share of times I have entered a blog hop more than once because I got a little too excited with my enter key. There’s my blog. Twice. Just making sure you didn’t miss it.

Comments.

Comments are another big blooper of mine. Sometimes I just type to fast hit enter and then notice my error. Wait! Come back here comment! Then I have to go in and type another comment with an apology. I’m sorry if I have ever done this on your blog!

In my defense, I am a blooper in everyday life too. My day is filled with bloopers all the time. Everyday. Just ask my husband.

So tell me, am I alone in the world of blogging bloopers or do you have some too? Please share.

Wordless Wednesday, With A Few Words.

Yesterday I came home from work and their was a package sitting on the kitchen table.

It had my name on it.

I had no idea what it was because I wasn’t expecting anything.

I was excited.

I opened it up and it was my award for the BlogPaws Nose to Nose Pet Blogging and Social Media Award.

It was like a Grammy award!

I started to cry.

No I didn’t.

Yes, I did. (don’t tell)

Then I gave Leroy my acceptance speech.

No I didn’t.

Seriously, I didn’t.

Maybe I did. Maybe I didn’t. I’m pleading the fifth.

I was super surprised to get the award in the mail.

Since we weren’t at the actual ceremony to receive it, I guess I thought we wouldn’t get it.

I’m happy I got.

I Say It Loud and I Say It Proud: I Am a Pet Blogger!

I am very proud to be a pet blogger. I take great pride in the company that I keep in this wonderful community.

Blogging has opened up many doors for me that average daily life would not have presented me with, even though I work in the “pet industry.”

I have connected with people and brands that I never would have out on the streets.

I have created bonds and made special friends with some very inspiring and amazing people.

I have learned.

Which is why I am often surprised when I tell someone that I am a blogger and they look at me with a confused little grin on their face.

Take this weekend for example.

We had a small party where we invited a few of Bobby and Gracie’s friends over and their parents.  We try to do this at least once during the summer and every year the kids invite a few more new friends, so in turn we get to meet new people.

Anyway, we were sitting around talking and someone brought up my blogging.

I could immediately tell that some of them my guests were puzzled and their minds were turning.

Is she crazy?

Is she a hoarder?

Is she serious?

Then one of them gets the balls to ask me a question:

“What’s a blog and what do you blog about?”

A blog is a website. A blog is whatever I create it to be.

I blog about my dogs, pet health, my kids, my job as a vet tech, Leroy giving me fat lips, books, photography, Leroy knocking me down the stairs, Gibby the Guinea Pig, photography, pet safety, Leroy pulling my pants down, Sherman, struggles that I face as a pet owner, Leroy stepping on my slippers, dog showing, dog breeding, Leroy giving me a concussion.

They are usually amazed at my list.

“And people read your blog?”

Yes. Here is my card. Look me up.

“And you like it?” is usually the next question.

Like is an understatement.

I love it.
