Last month I was asked by the friendly people from Oreck if I would be interested in doing a review of one of their brand new air purifiers. The AirInstinct 200.
Really??? Me?? The person who has more dust, odor and pet dander than anyone in America? Why yes, of course I would love to try it!!
While no one in my home suffers from allergies, having 3 dogs, 2 of which are dust and dirt magnets, I know that I have a lot of tiny little particles floating around my house and it kind of grosses me out. So if I have the chance to cut down on these little, dirty particles and have the air in my home cleaner for all of us to breathe, I am all for it!
So what is so great about the AirInstict 200?
1. It’s powerful and efficient. The most powerful air purifier Oreck has ever made and its ENERGY STAR qualified. It is recommended for room up to 248 square feet.
2. The Oreck AirInstinct 200 is smart. It uses technology to take the guesswork out of air purifiers.
You simply turn it on and walk away. You don’t have to stand there and guess what setting you need to have it on. It will actually monitor the dust, pollen, and smoke passing through the sensor with its Air Particle Sensor technology and adjusts the speed based on what it detects.
Red means it is detecting a lot of particles.
3. It cleans. Its three stage Pre-filter, Anti-Odor, True HEPA filtration system reduces odors and captures 99.7% of particles from the air that pass through its filters

So what did I think???
I love it!! I want one for every room in my house!!
I chose to put it our front room which is where we spend a lot of our time and where the dust flies the most.
No assembly was required we just had to take remove the filters from the bag, which were already in place in the purifier.
I first wanted to check out the three filters, including the 3 year HEPA filter.
The pre-filter captures large particles like hair and pet fur. The filter can be washed and never needs to be replaced.
The second filter, which is the 3-year odor filter reduces volatile organic compounds like paint smells and odors from cleaning supplies.
The third filter is the HEPA filter that captures 99.7% of dust, allergens, smoke, pet dander and pollen and is made to last for 3 years.
Next I wanted to watch it in action.
We set it on auto-mode and let it go to work.
For the first 45 minutes it was working hard to clean the air. The sensor light displayed red for about 45 minutes and then it switched over to light purple. Then I started to play with the dogs and it switched back to red from all the dust that they were kicking up from the carpet.
I spent an entire evening watching it switch from color to color depending on the activity that was going on in the room.
I tested the air purifier for 2 weeks in auto-mode and I am really impressed with it.
The most amazing thing, besides the clean air of course, was the fact that I didn’t see as much dust accumulating on my furniture!
Seriously.
Now, I’m not one for dusting everyday or every week for that matter. I dust when the kids start writing “clean me” on the T.V. screen, but I did dust right before I started using the AirInstinct 200 and there has been no dust for anyone to leave me messages in!!
Some other features that it has is:
It is super quiet.
It has a light sensor mode. It measures the level of light to activate sleep mode.
It has child safety features. A vented security panel safely covers the fan surface and a specially designed security grill prevents foreign objects from entering the unit.
