Bobby has played baseball since he was 5 years old.
What stared off as quick little T-ball games eventually turned into travel baseball.
For anyone who a child that plays a sport where they travel you know how time consuming that sport can be.
Practice for travel baseball usually starts right after Christmas with games starting in early April and ending in late July or early August.
Practice is just about daily and games are played on weekends and week nights.
It’s a full time commitment for both the player and the player’s parents.
We’ve always been fine with that.
It’s what Bobby wanted to do.
But this year………
Bobby has decided to take a break from baseball.
It was a surprise to us but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t see it coming.
It is what it is.
We encourage our kids to play sports but we let them choose which ones they want to play.
Right now Bobby has decided that he wants to focus on football and basketball and give a baseball a rest.
Gracie decided she didn’t want to play soccer or baseball this year.
That means we have a whole summer without commitments..
I already have a list going of what that leaves us open to do:
Some of this again:
And a few games of hoops.
Maybe a night at the Drive-In.
A weekend away.
Maybe some golfing.
Some fun rides.
We’ll still take in a few baseball games but we’ll be on the other side of the plate.
I’m good with that.
So what about you? Any plans for summer?
