Topical CBD For Dogs (Canna Care)

As many of you know, I’ve been using CBD oil for the dogs for a few months now and I’ve seen great results with it. So far I’ve tried CBD/Hemp treats, CBD gel capsules  and CBD/Hemp oil. I guess you could say that I’m exploring all the options out there.

Recently I was given the chance to try out a topical CBD from Pet Releaf called Canna Care.

Unlike the treats and oil that you give your dog orally, Canna Care is a topical CBD that is made to work from the outside instead of from the inside. It’s a soothing rub that you can use to help relief joint point, dry skin, inflammation, bug bites and skin irritations.

Canna Care is 100% plant-based and is infused with full spectrum certified USDA organic CBD hemp oil which is extracted from Pet Releaf’s proprietary strain of hemp, PR-33. PR-33 is grown at their joint-venture certified USDA organic hemp farm in eastern Colorado.

The 4oz Canna Care, which we use, contains 125mg of Active CBD.

Since we currently don’t have any skin irritations, such as hot spots or bug bites (YAY), I’ve been rubbing the Canna Care on Sherman’s knees once a day and I have noticed that after about a week, he seems less stiff when he gets up. I’ve also been using it on his dry nose and have seen a BIG improvement.

Last night I realized that Leroy had a few small patches of dry skin so I’ve been rubbing some of the topical CBD on those areas and I’ll report back next week to let you know how that worked.

Since Canna Care does contain Eucalyptus Oil and Wintergreen oil, it does have a smell to it, it’s a smell that I like and to me it most resembles Vicks Vapor Rub, however,  it’s not such a strong smell that I can smell it on the dogs when they walk in a room.

I think the Canna Care is a great option for people who are a little hesitant to start CBD/Hemp oil with their pets, great for senior pets with arthritis and/or to use in conjunction with your pet’s already established CBD routine.

Off the record, I used this product on myself last week when I pulled a muscle in my calf and it worked wonders.

Other Ingredients found in Pet Releaf Canna Care:

As with all Pet Releaf products, every ingredient has been hand selected to amplify the health benefits of CBD. Just a couple of the incredibly valuable ingredients found in Canna Care are Andiroba Oil, which promotes skin healing and is an incredible anti-inflammatory and Ucuuba Butter, which has high amounts of important fatty acids, making it exceptional at healing a variety of dog skin conditions.

There’s also a very low concentrated Eucalyptus Oil and Wintergreen Oil which work with a natural terpene found in cannabis called Nerolidol to penetrate the CBD hemp oil past the protective layers of skin.

Do dogs have any inclination to lick off the topical CBD? Would that be bad for them? We have a generic topical CBD that is intended for human use, is it safe to use on dogs?

I didn't know they had topical treatments as well. I think those scents sound great! I wonder if this would be good to use when Luke has an allergy flare-up, in conjunction with the oil we will give him orally. He might lick it off though, but I'm guessing it is probably safe if he does so?

We've not tried a topical yet but think it may be something down the road as all 3 of us age. With this stuff, I suspect that aging will be more graceful. I'm a big fan of CBD oil and will definitely be taking a look at a topical.

I've had great luck with the CBD products and I was excited to tey the topical out. It seems to be working well!
