Of course for me this is easy. The differences are obvious. Sherman is an angel and Leroy is the demons spawn.
Here are the two of them together.
Leroy is on the left, Sherman is on the right.
Leroy has more of a blocky head.
Sherman’s head is more round.
It’s hard to tell by the picture but Sherman drools more.
Leroy’s floogers are more stringy.
Sherman’s have more substance.
Sherman’s eye’s are darker than Leroy’s
Softer and the lids droop a bit more.
Leroy’s eyes are lighter(which gives him the demon eyes)
And the lids are a bit more tighter.
Leroy also has a longer muzzle, but it goes with his
blocky head.
Leroy although younger than Sherman is bigger. He is taller and at 2
years old outweighs Sherman by 15 lbs and he is not done growing yet.
I wish I had a picture of them standing next to each other, but I don’t.
Sorry. I will work on it.
Now other things that you can’t tell by a picture.
At this point in time Sherman has more coat than Leroy, who is lacking some undercoat.
Leroy is a goof. He is my goofy newfy. Always in to trouble.
Sherman is more laid back. He does not like change, at all.
Leroy holds his head high.
Sherman likes to hang his head low. (probably because Leroy is his adopted brother)
Leroy loves to pose for the camera.
Sherman would rather not have that scary thing following him around.
Sherman is a mommas boy.
Leroy is anybody’s boy.
Still can’t tell them apart, don’t worry. My husband and kids have trouble at times too.
Tomorrow will be the post on grooming. I am having some major problems downloading my pictures, it may take me a few days to figure it out.
Two Pitties In The City wanted to know: What the breed was bred to do in regards to working.
Answer: Two of the most common are:
1. Draft work. Newfoundlands use to be used as draft animals pulling carts filled with firewood, coal, fish, or merchandise and hauling in heavy fishing nets.
2. Water work. Newfoundlands have an inherent lifesaving instinct that make them natural water lifeguards.
Thanks for the question!

What an enlightening post!! I still can't tell them apart though...I see what you mean...but it is still difficult! Everybody gets the girlz all mixed up...they look totally different to me, but I see why people get them mixed up.

I always look at their eyes when I'm trying to figure out who's who! How long ago was the breed established?

Very cool! I guess it's like parents of identical twins, they always know which is which...at least, I hope they do! Two questions about Newfies for you:1) Are any ever born without webbed feet?2) Are there any disqualifying faults that would prevent them from being able to theoretically perform their intended duties? For example with Malamutes, there are some Wooly/Longhaired ones that aren't allowed to be shown because their fur doesn't have the right density to be able to survive (theoretically) in Alaska. The only other disqualifying fault is blue eyes - but honestly I'm not sure why. It was something to do with them not being able to absorb sunlight glare off the snow properly, but that doesn't make sense since Huskies have blue eyes.
