About Odin

Meet Odin!

Odin came into our family in September 2019, a few weeks after Sherman passed away.

Odin is the first dog that I’ve ever adopted and he came all the way from Oklahoma!

Odin’s history is a little unclear but it was told to us that he came from a home where he used to get out of the yard a lot and roam the area.

He was an outside dog and not an inside dog and got into some trouble when he was roaming.

Odin was matted and underweight when the rescue, Newfoundhaven, rescued him.

Newfoundhaven cleaned him up, had him neutered, vaccinated and introduced some training and then Odin was put up for adoption.

I follow Newfoundhaven on Facebook and when I saw Odin’s face pop up, he caught my eye.

I saw him before Sherman had passed away so I didn’t pursue him any further.

Odin was up for adoption for several weeks and he kept popping up in my feed and I kept staring at him.

Something in my mind told me that he would be mine but I still didn’t act on it.

A few days after Sherman passed away, there was Odin again in my feed and this time I filled out an application.

A little bit later I was approved for adopting him and then the magic really happened!

Odin was in Oklahoma which is about 14 years away from Ohio.

I was not able to make the entire trip at the time so the plan was to meet Newfoundhaven about half the distance.

However, a Facebook friend reached out to me and mentioned a wonderful transport group and within a week 13 amazing people were volunteering their time to get Odin to us!

It was such an amazing experience as each volunteer sent pictures of Odin on his journey.

Odin’s journey was completed in one day and we received him at around midnight on September 8th!

Getting to know Odin over the past few months has been such an awesome experience.

It’s estimated that Odin was around 2 1/2 when rescued so he is full of life and very energetic.

He’s super smart, agile and handsome as can be!

Odin and Jen

My family and I have fallen in love with Odin and I believe that he has fallen in love with us too.

Since adopting Odin I’ve been busy getting to know him and building on his strengths.

We train every day and enjoy every waking minute together.

And now I truly understand the saying, “Who rescued who?”
