We hit the show ring again this weekend.
Well, we didn’t.
My hubby and Leroy did.
I had to work, so it was up to the boys to take of business.
So unfortunately there are not any pictures.
Bummer.
My husband does not have the patience to take pictures ringside.
They didn’t come home with any points, but Leroy won his class
against 3 other dogs and then went back in for Winners Dog
where he took Reserves (2nd)
I was told that he did well, actually the best he has done in awhile.
He seems to have gotten over his fear of the mats, which is good.
Very good.
So although we didn’t earn any points this show,
Leroy earned backed his confidence!
This show was a 3 day show but we only entered Saturday.
The reasons being that Friday I knew it would be a low entry,
Friday’s usually are, and we wanted a major.
We had shown to Saturday’s judge before with Sherman a few years ago,
and he had liked him so we knew we had a chance that day.
Sunday’s judge was a Canadian judge that we had shown Sherman to
a few times and we don’t care for him very much.
Brown Newfs are not a recognized color up in Canada, so some
Canadian judges will not even give a second look at a brown dog in the ring.
(Even if they are judging in the US and should be following our standards)
(sorry, had to throw that in there)
Now this is not the case with all Canadian judges, but with this
particular one it is.
We learned that the hard way.
Twice.
One time he didn’t even put his hands on Sherman
Fair?
No.
Reality in the show world?
Yes.
I am not sure when our next show will be, but I would like
to keep Leroy going since he has his confidence back.

WooHoo! Yay for Leroy!! Congratulations! NOOOOOOO...that is NOT fair at ALL...but unfortunately the reality of the show world. Just not right.Hope Leroy (and your husband) are having fun in the ring anyway!
