This weekend we were entered in the Medina County Dog Show.
Entered is the key word.
We were entered but did not show.
There are a few different reasons for this.
1. I pulled Leroy from the show on Saturday because of the extreme heat that we are having.
Could he of done it?
Sure he could have.
Could he of done it well?
No.
2. Leroy has blown his coat, once again.
Who can blame him with the heat index above 100 for the past week.
3. The judge that was judging Sunday we have shown to twice this year, and he does not like us, or at least he doesn’t like Leroy. I don’t think he is a fan of the browns.
I didn’t realize he was the judge until Friday night.
My bad.
However, I did attend the show Sunday because our breeder had two of her Newfs entered and I didn’t want to miss the chance to meet them!
This is Esme.
Esme is a beautiful landseer bitch with outstanding movement.
She is a bit differently marked than your typical landseer, which has proven to be an obstacle in the show ring.
But this weekend she took Winners Bitch both days and I am so proud of her!
She is a beauty!
And then there was Zek.
Zek is Leroy’s 1/2 brother.
Zek earned his championship title last weekend so he was entered in the Best Of Breed class.
When I saw Zek for the first time my heart just melted.
He is a BIG HUNK OF CHOCOLATE LOVIN!
His head is HUGE
and it was love at first site!
Zek earned points towards his Grand Championship title on Saturday which is awesome for a new champion.
On Sunday he unfortunately did not earn anything.
On Sunday he unfortunately did not earn anything.
So while I am totally bummed that Leroy did not have the chance to share the ring with Esme and Zek I am so excited that I got to see them both and give them a smooch!

Good for you for not showing Leroy. When it's too hot, it's not fun for man or beast. Showing your dog should be a fun time. There's always another time and heat stroke is never fun.

Congrats to the winners. Those outdoor shows are tough in the heat. No shade. We debated pulling Storm from the hunt test last Satuday due to heat. But the temps dropped a bit and the trainer assured us that she waould be ok and he had his insulated and nicely ventilated dog trailer so she was fine. No dog shows for her for a while thought. She has zero coat right now.

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging words. I am just so bummed that we missed another show and at this point we are not going to show again until September. Hopefully by then some of Leroy's coat will be coming back in!

@Mr Pip, I am pretty new to Blogher and still finding my way around it, but from what I know I really do like it, there are so many great blogs out there and this is great way to connect with even more amazing people! I think it would be great if your Mom signed up!

@Houndstooth, I use to have a landseer before Sherman and Leroy. I hope to eventually get a black Newf one of these days, but I think browns will be my main color.
