There once was a dog who was trying to make it through a hot humid summer.
This particular dog did not like swimming or getting wet with the hose.
Besides the cool air coming through the vents in the house, the only thing that this dog liked to do to keep cool was to eat ice cubes.
He liked to eat ice cubes so much that when his mom would fill up his water bowl with ice cubes he would dunk his nose in it trying to eat all the ice cubes that ever existed.
The mess that he made was incredible.
And the water that flowed from his ginormous jowls left puddles on the cement patio.
He was able to make slobber strings that glistened in the sunlight and flung to areas of unknown origin.
He was able to create mud in the middle of a drought.
This dog even managed to get his ears wet because he was trying so very hard to get every last ice cube out of his water bowl.
He did all of this just under 5 minutes and his momma was so very proud of him that she filled the bowl up again with ice cubes.
THE END.
How does your dog keep cool in the summer?

We laugh that there is an ice cube tax at our house. If we use the ice dispenser on the fridge two newfies appear out of nowhere and demand their tribute. It takes 2 cubes each before they will relent and allow us to finish making our drink. Though lately the puppy has upped the tax to 3 cubes! Inflation sucks.

I found that my dogs really liked ice cubes as puppies but as they got older lost interest. Sometimes if I put them in the water dish though, Luke will fish them out. But then he just drops them on the floor and leaves a puddle! :)

It's funny we always had trouble keeping Bailey hydrated so ice cubes were suggested because he thought they were a frozen bone. Katy liked them, too.
When we started Bailey on bone broth we got the suggestion to freeze the broth into ice cubes and it worked like a charm. Katy continues to have a cube a day.

I was waiting for the part where his mom slipped on the concrete patio trying to get those awesome photos:)

Nope. Use my zoom lens so that I could be safe. I've learned my lesson!
