This year Take Your Dog To Work Day is on Friday June 21st, which is tomorrow.
Created by Pet Sitters International in 1999, the Take Your Dog To Work Day campaign encourages workplaces around the globe to open their doors to employees’ four-legged best friends for one fun summer Friday to celebrate the great companions dogs make and to promote their adoptions from local shelters, humane societies and animal-rescue groups.
I think that Take Your Dog To Work Day is an excellent campaign and I hope that over the years more and more businesses will adopt this day and welcome dogs into the workplace one day a year.
My workplace certainly allows dogs to come to with work with their employees on this day and any day for that matter. However, I don’t work on Fridays so we don’t participate in Take Your Dog To Work Day.
Sherman and Leroy seem to be fine with that since they go to work with me more than they would like. Most of the time they come with me it’s not a very fun experience for them.
That’s what happens when you’re loved by someone who works at an animal hospital.
For Sherman it usually means that he’s not feeling well and someone will poke him with a needle, touch his paws, and get a little too personal with his prostate, again.
Or someone will make him sit on the scale for 100th time and tell him he’s getting chubby.
For Leroy it means that he’s eaten something he shouldn’t have and he needs to be held against his will up on the big table that takes pictures of your insides, again.
Or that he needs to be knocked out for someone to dig in his ears.
But sometimes it’s a place where Sherman can hang with me and take a snooze away from his little brother.
And for Leroy sometimes it means he gets to play with other dogs who have been brought to work by their owners, and beg for cookies at the front desk.
And it’s always a place where they get hugs from me.
If you’re planning on taking your dog to the office with you this Friday and he’s never been there before, you can find some handy little documents to prepare them for their big day here.
So will you be taking your dog to work tomorrow? If so, what will they being while they are there with you?

I leave the dogs home when I go to work. It is my break...lol.
I bet Sherman and Leroy are sad to have missed out on TYDYW this year. :)

For many years, I took my dog to work every day! I was so lucky to have that luxury, and so was she. Now, I work from home, so my dogs are at work with me every day!
Love the photos of the boys at work!
