Annoying Acorns

The annoying acorns are back.

You would think that I would like acorns. It means autumn is coming.

But I don’t.

Why? Well let me tell you…

Sherman loves to eat the acorns.

Now some people say that acorns are toxic to dogs if eaten in large quantities.

Sherman eats large quantities of acorns.

He walks around the yard and finds them.

Then he gets diarrhea.

So every year around this time I have to pick them up.

Everyday until they quit falling.

This annoys me because there are hundreds of them, and they
aren’t even from our trees! They are from the neighbors trees!
AND as you are picking them up they are falling off the trees hitting
you in the head!!

Well this weekend I enlisted Gracie to help me. I told her to grab a
bucket and started picking them up.

She did a pretty good job.

But after about 10 minutes she said she was done.

I told her there were a lot more acorns to pick up and she
said: “Mom I picked up 20 of them, that’s enough.”

I told her: ” Gracie, quitters never win, and winner’s never quit.”

She told me to “talk to the hand.”

I really have no idea where she gets this shit from.
Maybe that’s what she is learning in kindergarten

Anyhow, I finished picking the acorns up by MYSELF. AGAIN.

The next morning I went out to see if anymore had fallen, and of course
there were hundreds more on the ground and amongst them were these
two annoying ones:

I won’t tell you what I did to them.
You can use your imagination.

Wow, I had no idea they were toxic in large amounts! Good thing I don't have to worry about acorns in my yard since I have chihuahuas. I'm sure it'd take a lot less to be toxic in a small dog. We do have a lot of squirrels but I usually find peanuts in my yard rather than acorns.

I'm glad that my mom can't time travel to read this. She would have loved to use me to pick up all the nuts and acorns. Any chance to get Gracie to scoop up cane toads in Australia?
