Over the years you have seen me post about Ohio Dog Auctions.
1 1/2 years ago I wrote my first post about
Banning Ohio Dog Auctions and then almost year later I took it a step further and did another post about Ohio’s horrible animal laws. Here and there you have seen me bring this issue to your attention.
As of December 22, 2011, The Coalition to Ban Ohio Dog Auctions has collected 154,082 signatures from registered Ohio voters across all 88 Ohio counties and has submitted them to the Secretary of State’s office where they are awaiting certification. Once all the signatures have been certified, hopefully by January 6, 2012, the act will be presented to the Ohio General Assembly, where Ohio senators and State Representatives will have four months to act on the proposed law.
If the Ohio General Assembly fails to pass the Ohio Dog Auctions Act, The Coalition to Ban Ohio Dog Auctions will have another chance to collect another set of signatures to have a proposal added to the November ballot.

This ban would make it illegal for anyone to auction or raffle a dog in Ohio.
It would also prohibit bringing dogs into the state for sale or trade that were acquired by auction or raffle elsewhere.
I feel confident saying that this IS going to happen!
