Happy Birthday Sherman. Here Is What I Wish

Today is Sherman’s 6th Birthday and just like anyone in my family who has a birthday, it’s a bittersweet day for me.

Of course I’m happy that it’s his birthday and I know that it’s a day to celebrate him but it also means that he is another year older and that just bums me right out. I already know that I will never have the amount of time I want to have  with him and that thought is what brought tears to my eyes the other day when we were in the park together.

You live and you learn with these guys and the thought is always in the back of your mind that one day they will break your heart as much as they have filled it with love and joy.

But instead of dwelling too much on that I want to share some of the things that I wish for in regards to Sherman.

I wish that humans had the capabilities to love unconditionally like you do.

I wish that everyone had a chance to know what having a “heart” dog really feels like at least once in their lifetime.

I wish everyone enjoyed and treasured every slobbery kiss that they are given.

I wish you would forever be there to be the first one to greet me when I get home and the first one I see when I wake up in the morning.

I wish I had noticed you had a tongue shaped heart when you were a puppy because I would of focused on that more.

I wish you could be her best friend forever and protect her for the rest of her life.

I wish that one day her daughter will have a dog like you watching over her.

I wish that every family has a dog like you sometime in their journey that brings smiles to their faces and gives them as much joy as you have given mine.

and most of all, before I get way too mushy, :
