Sometimes love hurts.
Especially when you have a dog that likes to give love nibbles.
Sherman likes to give love nibbles.
He’s given me love nibbles since as far back as I can remember and he usually gives them when he’s excited, like when I come home from work.
The best way to describe a love nibble is to picture your arm like an ear of corn and your dog is eating that ear of corn, which is your arm, if you’ve forgotten already.
He only uses his front teeth and then he nibbles away at my arm.
Sometimes it’s a little painful when he gives me love nibbles, especially if he actually grabs my skin with my shirt in mid nibble.
In cases like that it turns more into a love pinch.
If my arms happen to be unavailable because I’m carrying groceries, the next available area for Sherman to give me love nibbles is my stomach.
This area is extremely ticklish when it is being nibbled upon, until a few love pinches accidentally take place, then it becomes a little painful.
Sherman’s the first dog that I’ve had that gives me love nibbles and I love his love nibbles to pieces no matter how many times the nibbles turn into pinches.

Our new pup Charlie likes to give love nibbles. His favorite place is right on the earlobe along with a few quick licks!

One of my shelties does it, exactly like you describe....only difference is when bambam can't get to my arms because they are full, he goes for my legs....the calf area. And like you, I love his sweet little nibbles even when they pinch. My baby knows when he accidentally pinches and as soon as I say "ouch" he starts doing a little bouncy hop trying to reach my face, I bend over so he can and he gives the sweetest softest kiss, what I call his butterfly kisses, on the tip of my nose....it's his way of apologizing for getting a bit over excited and pinching me... I love both of his little sweet habits. His sister on the other hand, when she's excited she waits for me to sit somewhere so she's eye to eye with me and she kisses my cheek and then pinches the very tip of my nose with her teeth. She LOVES doing that and it's like she thinks it's funny cause does it and hops away wagging her tail happily. I say ouch and bambam jumps up to check on me and makes it all better with his butterfly kisses, like he's "fixing" mommy after naughty sister nibbled....lol. My other shelties do their own various things to show affection but those too are my nibblers. I've always thought it was cute.....

I am very familiar with this. I have one dog (Bella) that jumps up in the air snapping her jaws when she is excited. She occasionally connects with my elbows and stomach. Ugh. Drives me nuts!

Prudence gives "love nibbles" all the time, usually on the tip of my nose when giving me a kiss. We call them "kisses and nips" here!
