Dog towels.

Most dog owners have them.

Newf owners have them in every single room of their house.

They’re used for a variety of dog messes.

Pee-pee accidents, intentional and not.  Muddy paws.  Wet dog.

To wipe up vomit, diarrhea and every other bodily fluid that can come from a dog, including massive amounts of slobber.

To soak up the water in front of the water bowl because some dog has to stick his whole snout in it.

My dog towels always get washed separately because they’re gross and I’m going to be honest, they never smell 100% clean and fresh when they come out of the dryer. I remember one time I took the load of towels out of the washing machine and there was still a hint of pee smell on them, so I washed them again. And again. Then I just threw them out.

Wet, stale mud is another smell I can’t seem to always get out of my dog towels. I’m sure you all know the smell I’m talking about. It’s not quite as bad as poop but worse than wet, stale dog towel smell. Now I’m not one to use dog towels and then immediately wash them, except during muddy season, when a load of dog towels gets done every single day.  Eight ginormous muddy dog paws wiped at least 5 times a day takes a lot of towels.  That creates a lot of muddy wet dog towel stink. That creates at least one EXTRA load of laundry a day.

So heading into mud season I’m pretty amped up to learn about Febreze In-Wash Odor Eliminator.

Of course, Sherman and Leroy could care less about what their dog towels smell like. If it was up to them dog towels to wipe muddy paws wouldn’t exist. They would just be allowed to freely walk around the house leaving muddy paw prints everywhere, including on my couch. Thankfully it’s not their call.

Yep, we have a stack of pet towels in a separate closet from the human towels. One of my fears is that a guest will accidentally come across one of our "clean" pet towels!

I use vinegar or baking soda for most of my cleaning chores, including the dogs' laundry.

I've also washed towels and then thrown them away because I just couldn't get the smells out. Cat pee is the worst! I always throw an old towel in front of our slider door where the dogs go in and out. The cat hacks up hairballs on it all the time (which is why I don't buy expensive rugs any more!). Like you, I always wash all that stuff separately..I couldn't stand the thought of it in with my good stuff...lol!

Every laundry day, mom does her laundry and a load of pet laundry, mostly towels, and sometimes collars, or beds. We have a lot of laundry considering we don't even wear clothing.
