My Obsession With Dog Toys Continues On A Bigger Scale

Leroy and Giant FurBallz

I don’t know why I have this little obsession with dog toys.

It started years ago and just kind of grew from there.

I mean, I have kids. Kids that have toys. Kids that have a ton of toys and they never really floated my boat.

Well, there was this one stuffed dog that came with a medical kit that I got for Gracie when she was 5. That was pretty cool. She didn’t think so but I played it with everyday for a year.

Dog toys=dogs. Dogs make me smile. Dog poop emoji toys make me smile.

I guess I’m lucky because my dogs are pretty easy on toys. They are not dog toy destroyers. So I don’t have to go searching for dog toys that are made out of rubber and withstand 3600 pounds of bite pressure per square inch. Nope. Fabric toys do just fine and this in some odd way justifies my need to buy silly dog toys.

Who am I kidding? Most of the dog toys that I buy never see the inside of my dog’s mouth. They sit on my desk and I play with them. (It feels good to get that off my chest)

If you’ve been a reader of our blog for the past few years then you know that my all time favorite toy is the FurBallz by GoDog. GoDog makes pretty good toys. They have use chew-guard technology so their toys can withstand a few tugs and chomps. They are not indestructible by any means but that’s fine in our house.

So anyway, we have EVERY FurBallz that is available.

Or so I thought.

Last week I came to find THE FurBallz of all FurBallz.

Leroy and FurBallz

Before you get excited, he’s not an actual toy. He’s a display. He’s not meant for dogs to play with and he’s not for sale. I was just lucky enough to bring him for a few short hours to inflate him with air and take him back to his display.

I made every second of my time with him count.

I’ll admit right here that after he was done being inflated, I hugged him. I hugged him hard.

And then I laughed. I laughed so hard I cried.

“I want to keep him and love him forever.” I told my husband.

Then I tried to go through the door with him and we got stuck.

I bounced back and the FurBallz remained in the door.

Funniest thing ever.

We had some fun in our short time together and then I had to take him to his home.

It was a tearful goodbye but I’ll never forget the good times that we had together.

Leroy and FurBallz

Don’t worry, my sadness was short lived after I found this NEW muti-colored FurBallz that just hit the store shelves.

He’s mine. I only let Leroy hold him for 30 seconds.

All mine.

p.s. I get all my FurBallz at a local pet retailer but I’ve seen them on Amazon for less. I also hear that Walmart.com has them BUT I haven’t seen the multi-colored one on either site. I’ll keep my eye out.

Holy cow, I love it!! I would settle for the multi-colored one too. These don't live too long around our house, but I've learned to enjoy what little time we have with some toys. I wish there was video of you trying to take him through the doorway. :)

Now that is one B I G furballz! And cute too! I can understand why you hated saying goodbye. Callie was my careful-with-toys girl. Shadow prefers rubber and tennis balls. And Ducky? Anything that can be destroyed doesn't stand a chance with her. ?

We have a bit of a dog toy problem at our house, too. Barley is very gentle with her toys, so we have never had to throw out any toys (or patch them until they look like one of Sid's creations in Toy Story). When we moved, I donated over 50 toys to the shelter and we still needed multiple bins and bags to move all of her toys to the new house.

Yikes, that ball nearly dwarfed Leroy! You're too funny about the 'toy obsession.' I used to collect the stuffed Audubon birds, ostensibly for the dogs, but they were, in fact for me. I loved their realistic chirps. Besides, the dogs tried to eviscerate them. ;)

LOVING that new multi-colored one! These are one of Penny's latest obsessions since she lost her Planet Dog soft tennis balls after eating one.
