Making Milestones

Today was supposed to be an update on Leroy because he was supposed to have his re-check appointment on Friday afternoon.

However, due to the Newfie Mobile breaking down on Thursday I had to reschedule his appointment in 2 weeks.

I was o.k. with rescheduling it because, knock on wood, he seems to doing well.

So instead of sharing what his results were I thought I would share some milestones that he had this week.

First, Leroy’s been making his way upstairs all on his own almost every day this week to eat his dinner and breakfast. He’s not asked to come up, he does it fully at his own will. He’s been struggling a little when he gets to the top step but over the week he’s conquered it.

Second, and one of the most exciting things for me, was that on Saturday morning, Leroy came upstairs all on his own and woke me up.

I can’t even remember the last time he’s done this, it has to be at least 6 months.

I heard him coming up the stairs and I fought back the urge to jump put of bed and help him because I wanted to see what he was going to do when he made it to the top of the stairs.

I heard him get to the kitchen and then I heard a fast shuffle on the floor to our bedroom.

The next thing I knew he was by my side giving me a boop on the nose and barking.

I think he was almost as excited as me that he was there.

The funny thing about that is that the kids were both out-of-town so this was the ONE day that my husband and I could sleep in.

And…….

And later that day…….

We walked.

We walked across the street on our normal path. We didn’t go our full distance, not even close, but it was good enough for both of us.

And while he looks extremely pathetic in these pictures that I took of him yesterday, he’s actually very annoyed that I gave him bath and he glared at me for 2 hours.

In other news, now that Leroy has been coming back upstairs to eat, Sherman is no longer picky about eating his food. Funny how these things work themselves out.
