Meet Odin’s New Friend! Finn The Puppy!

Surprise!

It’s a boy!

Today I would like you all to meet Odin’s new friend/brother, Finn!

Finn is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi puppy.

His color is black and white with brindle points. (Corgi people, correct me if I’m wrong)

He’s 10 weeks old and he’s the newest member of our family!

If you’re a little surprised, I don’t blame you because I am too.

Finn wasn’t planned, he just kind of happened and we’re happy he did!

A little bit about Finn:

Finn is out of a litter of 5 puppies that was born on January 12, 2020.

His breeder is Sherman’s and Leroy’s dog show handler.

My sister recently got Finn’s brother, Archie and stopped by to visit us the other day.

She made sure to repeatedly tell my children that there was one puppy left in the litter that needed a home and that’s how that went.

Finn was supposed to go to another family but due to the recent pandemic, they weren’t able to take him.

To be honest with you, Bobby and Gracie have been begging me for a puppy for months now.

Every puppy they would mention and show me I would say no.

I had many reasons for saying no but the main reason was that none of the puppies they were showing me were Newfie puppies.

I know that sounds selfish and it is.

So I gave in and you know what?

I don’t feel bad about it.

For us, there is no better time to add a puppy to our family.

My children’s lives have been turned upside down in the last few weeks and a puppy, while not easy to raise, will bring them smiles as they try to get through this time.

Bobby and Gracie are home, probably for months, and they are more than old enough to care for this puppy.

Welcome to Life 101. How To Raise A Puppy

Under my supervision, Bobby and Gracie will be responsible for the caring and training of Finn.

They will also be learning how to show Finn in the future under the supervision of Finn’s breeder.

They have a lot to learn and it will definitely be a journey for them.

Odin and Finn are doing good together so far.

Odin is doing great and is curious and careful with Finn.

They are being introduced slowly and each has their own space.

It will be really fun to see their relationship blossom over the next few weeks and months.

Obviously, we are new to the Corgi breed so this will be a learning experience for all of us!

And, if you’re wondering if there is still a Newfie puppy in our future the answer is a definite yes!

That hasn’t changed.

I hope you enjoy our little addition and that he brings a smile to your face today and the weeks to come!

p.s. As you can tell by Finn’s collar, I don’t know how to buy small things………yet.

Congratulations ❤️❤️ I’m sure Odin and a Finn will be inseparable soon. Newfies make great big brothers❤️ Odin will teach him how to be patient. That’s what Newfies do. Love reading your blog. Makes me miss my big guys terribly. You won’t know how to act with a easily transportable dog..... 😉. Can’t wait to see the progress.....

OMG! I never would have guessed you would get a Cardi! Welcome to the family! You are in for quite a ride. They are nothing like a Newf! Well, except for the shedding ;-) Feel free to ask questions as they come up although I am sure Finn's breeder will be your first line of defense. LOL! Just one important tip at this stage of the game....No stairs and no jumping on/off the furniture. This is for most of the first year or until the growth plates close. Fortunately Finn should stay small enough to carry :-)

Congratulations and enjoy the ride!

Hi Taryn I thought of you when this all went down! I may for sure be reaching out to you as I navigate the corgi world! I've been really careful with the jumping off the couch and we are carrying him up and down the stairs! He's so little and easy to carry compared to a Newfie puppy!

Finn is so stinkin' cute! And I love the size contrast between him and Odin! What a loving Mom you are to open your mind and heart to something different, especially during what has to be a tough time for your kids, and the whole family. ♥♥♥ Congratulations!!

Thanks Jan! His small size is definitely something that is going to take getting used too! I've never had such a little peanut before!
