If your social media feed has been filled with AI-generated action figures, you’re not alone.
This fun and FREE AI trend is taking over Instagram and Facebook and everyone is getting so creative with their action figures.
I tried it out last night so I’ll share how I did and what prompt I used to get my own unique figure.
How To Create Your Own AI Action Figure Using ChatGPT
First, you need to create a ChatGPT account if you don’t have one already.
Don’t worry, it’s super simple.
(Make sure you’re using the 4 o model of ChatGPT)
Upload a Photo
After you’ve created your account, the next step is to upload a photo of yourself.
It can be a full body photo or just a headshot, you’ll just have to add additional details if needed.
The original photo that I used, I was sitting between Odin and Lou but the AI generator did a great job adjusting to a full body figure.
Prompt Instructions For Your AI Action Figure
If you’ve ever used AI, you know that details are important.
You can use any prompt you want but if you need a general prompt to make your AI-generated doll, this is the one I used:
“Create an action figure toy of the person in this photo. The action figure should be a full figure and displayed in a transparent blister pack.”
Now it’s time for the fun part.
After your first prompt, add in the details!
You can add anything you want and be as specific as you want.
I was making a Newfie Starter Pack so I added in a drool towels, dog comb and lint roller but the choices are endless!
This was my prompt for the additional details:
“She always has a brown Newfoundland dog, drool towel, dog comb and a lint roller. The action figure doll is called, “Newfie Owner Starter Pack”
Also, you don’t have to do a “starter pack”.
You can use your name or your dog’s name.
When you’re finished with the details, submit your request and sit back and wait.
It’s takes a few minutes for the image to generate and you can make changes if needed.
However, I was only allowed 3 changes and then I got a message that read, “It looks like we’ve hit the image generation rate limit for now, so I can’t create a new image at the moment. You’ll be able to generate more images in about an hour.”
ChatGPT recently shared the prompt they recommend using which is, ” Draw a picture of me as a real-life action figure. Be specific as possible based on what you know about me. And put multiple interesting things that represent who I am inside the packaging.”
And here’s the prompt I used all together in case you want to copy and paste:
“Create an action figure toy of the person in this photo. The figure should be a full figure and displayed in its original transparent blister pack. She always has a brown Newfoundland dog, drool towel, dog comb and a lint roller. The action figure doll is called, ‘Newfie Owner Starter Pack”.
How To Animate Your Action Figure Doll
If you want to take it a step further, you can bring your action figure to life too.
It’s free and fun and of course, I took a try at it.
To animate your creation you’ll have to ditch ChatGPT and head over to Nim.video.
Nim is another AI website that allows you to generate AI content from image to video.
They do have a free plan which allows you a set number of creation before you’ll need to buy a monthly plan.
When you’re at Nim there’s only a few steps you need to follow:
- Click on the “Image to Video” feature. This is at the top of the menu
- Upload your action figure doll image
- Add your prompt
- Create!
The prompt you use is up to you. You can get very detailed or not.
I did 2 videos: one with a hand reaching in to grab the figure and another with the figure jumping.
Easy prompt:
“Have the action figures walk out of the packaging and off screen” (I had myself and a dog so I wanted both to move.)
Detailed prompt:
“Have a realistic hand reach in from the right of the screen. The hand grasps the action figure’s waist, lifting it gently out of the blister packaging. Once the figure is out of the packaging, slightly rotate it in front of the camera. Keep the lighting consistent and place soft shadows for a more realistic appearance.”
I’ll put my video at the end of this article so you can see it.
I can’t wait to see what you create!
p.s. if you get a big gray blurred screen, just hold tight-it’s working!
