A Frightful But Delightful Week And Where Is Christmas?

There’s no doubt about it that winter has arrived early here in Ohio. Colder than normal temperatures and icy conditions have definitely put a little damper on our outside adventures, but I am trying to work through that because no matter how frightful I think the weather is, Sherman and Leroy think it’s delightful.

Which is why I was determined to get out and take some pictures of them in the snow earlier in the week, which is where my favorite picture of the week comes from:

Sherman had a blast walking through the woods and eating some snow and while I was freezing my ass off his snow covered body and happy face melted my heart.

In stupid news, I didn’t run out of gas this week, but I did have a small freak out session at the store when I was trying to buy toothpaste. Last week I bought the wrong toothpaste and everyone in the house was up in arms about it and trying to squeeze every single drop they could out of the old toothpaste, so when I went to the store to buy a new tube I freaked a little because I forget what I was NOT suppose to buy.

Note to self for future reference: DO NOT BUY PEPPERMINT BLAST TOOTHPASTE.

I also got to spend a day shopping with my Mom which was super fun and we got Gracie the most adorable Christmas dress and we went to lunch. It was nice to spend some quality time with my mom because we don’t do that enough.

I’ve been trying to find my Christmas spirit and I’m doing my best to go through all the motions. Christmas is all around me but I just don’t feel it like I use to and I miss that. The other day I was driving home from the overcrowded mall and this lady in a white car cut me off and I started swearing and flipping her off and then the song “Where Are You Christmas?” by Faith Hill came on the radio. I started singing the song, in my best Faith Hill voice, and balling my eyes out. I was a mess.

So today Gracie and I are going ice skating with Santa. Maybe I will find Christmas there.

On the blog this week we talked a little about Leroy puking when we went to see Santa. I got the Santa picture on Friday so I will share it Monday! We also talked about the Meet The Blogger Hop that is taking place on December 18th.

On Tuesday we had a guest post from the Morris Animal Foundation about the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study that has launched. Thank you to everyone for spreading the word about that. It’s super important.

Wednesday we hosted the 11th day of the Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers, sponsored by PawNosh. The giveaway is for a PawNosh bowl is still open so don’t miss out!

Thursday we shared our experience making homemade paw palm. So easy and fun…and a great gift for the holidays!

Friday we shared our review of Natural Strides joint supplement in chew form. We take joint supplements serious in this house, so we gave a serious and honest review.

Another busy week ahead as Christmas moves closer and I get a little bit more overwhelmed!

Hope everyone has a warm and happy weekend!

I'm sorry you were sad, but I so love those 'teaching moments.' When you're feeling so bad, and then something happens that strikes a chord in you.

Remember you can always call me, I might even cry with you. ;-)

I love that Sherman got to walk through the woods and eat snow. He looks like he had a really fun time! It was freezing and the wind chill was unreal but my two had a terrific woods walk too. My fingers froze while I was taking pictures and still have to post. Hope you get another fun snow walk Sherman:-)

I find that when I am not feeling very Christmas-y, a sure fire cure is to buy a few gifts for my family that really emphasize the reason for Christmas (Jesus) in the first place. I bought this cute little ornament of Linus on the stage and when you press a button - he does the speech he recites the Christmas Story from Luke. I know my brother, sis-in-law and nieces will appreciate it and get a kick out of it. It also helps to do just random nice things for strangers when I am out shopping. Even the simplest things can bring a smile to someone's face. :)

Awwww......thank you for sharing that. That warmed my heart and it is a great idea. I did buy both the kids Advent Calendars the other day. I always loved those when I was a kid.

I bet your family will love the ornament!

What is it with everyone and their Christmas spirit? I had someone freak out at me because I was waiting for the ramp to be clear before driving up it. I shouted back at her, got out the car, banged my head and burst into tears!

Oh no Lauranne! I'm sorry you hit your head! Don't worry...I had to go to the mall again today and I almost fell down the escalators. My husband was behind me and I was grabbing onto him trying not to fall and he was like, "What is going on?" I'm falling!! I'm falling!
