 Febreze Air Purifier

Before I start my review on the Febreze Air Purifier™ I have to make a small confession:

I moved it from the original room that I was suppose to be testing it in but I have a good reason.

If you read our first post you would know that I was suppose to be testing it in the current stinkiest room of our house which was the game room which is the room that houses Bobby’s stinky shoes. Some of these shoes, like his football cleats, smell like cat urine. Eck.

However, a few days after I put the Febreze Air Purifier in that room I noticed that his shoes weren’t making it into that room which is totally defeating the purpose of seeing if the Febreze Air Purifier works on stinky boy shoes.

Even after I pleaded with him to please keep his stinky shoes in the game room with him he ignored me. His shoes kept winding up in the front room. I attribute this to the fact that school is now back in session and the first thing he does when he comes home is take his shoes off like we all did after a tough day in the 8th grade.

So I moved the Febreze Air Purifier into the front room. This is a bigger room than the game room so IMO it’s putting it to the test even more. It’s also the room where we spend the most time so I was able to observe it more.

 Febreze Air Purifier

After 2 weeks of using it here’s what the kids had to say:

Bobby-“It smells different in the here.”

Me-“Is it a bad different or a good different?”

Bobby-“It no longer smells like cat pee. Or DOG.”

Me-“Cool.”

(Just so we’re all clear I don’t have a cat. I have never had a cat in this house. It’s Bobby’s shoes but i’m tired of trying to explain it to him)

Gracie-“It smells fresh in here! What is that smell Mom?”

Me-“Why it’s linen and sky Gracie.”

Gracie-“Can you make our clothes smell like that?”

Me-Sigh.No.

Here’s what I think:

I was kind of concern with the scent that the Febreze Air Purifier was going to send into the air of the room that I spend my most time in. I’m sensitive to smells and certain ones give me a headache and challenge my allergies.

Since this purifier has a freshness scent control dial I was able to control how much scent came out but even on the highest setting it wasn’t too strong for me. It was a really light fresh scent. It even has a reminder light that comes on when I need to change the scent cartridge which lasts about 30 days.

A few other cool features of the Febreze Air Purifier that are important to me:

HEPA Type Filter removes 99% of air pollutants which is important to me for 2 reasons:

  1. Gracie was diagnosed with asthma last year so providing her with less pollutants in the air whenever I can is super important.
  2. Bobby has seasonal allergies. Mostly in the Spring and Fall. The time when the windows are open the most.
  3. Dog dander. 2 double coated dogs that shed all the time. Do I have to say anymore?

Plus the automatic filter and scent replacement reminders. I can’t remember everything. I need reminders.

The kids think it’s a win. I think it’s a win. Cleaner air is a win!

Now if only the folks at Febreze would make a pumpkin spice scent cartridge for this 😉

Does it make noise?

It sounds kind of like a fan on medium speed. But it's not loud at all. Yesterday I had to walk right up to see to see if it was on or not because it was so quiet.

Does it pull dust out of the air? I can deal with dog dander; but dust drives me nuts. Especially when it's an inch thick within five minutes after I've dusted in a room.
