Today’s post was suppose to be another failing garden post except instead of failing vegetables it was failing sunflowers.
If you’ve been a reader of this blog for a few years then you know that sunflowers are by far my favorite flower of the summer.
Every Spring I plant them and every Summer I cherish them when they bloom.
They are my happy flowers.
They’re the flowers that I look at and see them smiling and dancing back at me.
This year, just like everything else that I planted, they are struggling.
Struggling so much that I just had my very first one open last week.
It took forever.
Every day I checked them and was sadly disappointed that there was none smiling back at me and dancing.
Finally, one morning I took a peek and there was one smiling and dancing back me.
It was the longest I have ever waited for a sunflower.
According to that memory thing on Facebook, in 2013, TODAY was the first day I had a sunflower.
So that means that my sunflowers this year are actually ahead of my sunflowers 2 years ago which means the whole sad and depressing post I was going to write for today is irrelevant.
Love it when that happens.
