Dear Summer, It’s Time To Let Go

_dsc09601

Dear Summer,

Here we are towards the end of October and you’re still here in Ohio.

It’s time to let go.

You’re hesitation to leave is just confusing everyone and everything.

I was happy to see you arrive but then you gave us record breaking temps from July to September.

Now you’re going to give us record breaking temps in late October.

You’re heat and humidity had a good run this year.

You were really tough on my dogs and my electric bill.

It’s time to go.

My home is decorated for Fall.

The pumpkins are ready to be carved.

My heating and cooling unit is confused.

Heat in the morning, air in the afternoon.

The mums are confused.

They don’t know whether to keep budding or die off.

Inside they go to protect them from frost. Outside they go to get catch some rays.

The instability is wearing on them.

My kitchen chair needs me to pick a season because it’s  about to break with the weight of winter coats, windbreakers, hoodies, t-shirts, chicken boots, flip flops and fleece lined boots stacked on it.

The leaves on the trees are in mid autumn change and are confused.

Are they suppose to give into death or keep hanging on?

The worst thing that you did was let Autumn sneak in and have a few teaser days which jump started my adventures.

But now…….

But now you hold my dogs and I hostage in the house during peak leaf changing time.

I’m very upset.

My dogs think that I’m a liar because of you. I told them 4 weeks ago that they saw their last 80 degree day for the year but with temps reaching into the mid 80’s today you’ve driven me to give them a bath instead of a long walk in the woods.

They most certainly are going to hold this against you my dear Summer.

And I know you might be holding on for those Cleveland Indians of ours, but let me assure, they play here in April when your friend Old Man Winter is having separation issues so they’ll be just fine if things get a little chilly down at Progressive Field.

So Summer, please let go.

It’s time for you to leave.

And don’t the door hit you on the way out.

XOXO,

Jen.

In defense of Fall.

You think it's bad there? Try living in the South! Summer and Fall are playing ping-pong and so far Summer is winning. UGH! I want the damn bugs to GO AWAY! ?

We are thrilled to have summer gone here too. It is our least favorite season as none of us like the heat.

I love it! I was a big fan of summer this year. But once autumn showed its colors I became a big fan of that. Then summer came back and I had to boo it. The cool felt good. It was nice to enjoy the warmth of the sun instead of running away from it. Summer needs to accept it's fate. But if winter wants to hold off a little longer? That's OK. :)

Yes! I'm totally ok with Winter holding off until late December! I don't like the brutal cold and I know it's coming! i just like to be a little chilly!

Summer can stay here as long as it wants. I hate the darkness.

I agree with that! I don't like that it gets dark so early!
