When you have a dog breed that slobbers, over time you learn that every drip isn’t always created equal.
Some dog drool is short strings that hang from the mouth, some are long, some are thin, some are thick and some are even frozen.
As you become more familiar with the drool you learn new names.
Yes, you read that correctly, owners of dogs that drool have come up with their own names to identify the drool.
The Dog Slobber Challenge has given us the perfect opportunity to name each type of dog slobber along with a picture.
So if you’re new to dog drool or just interested in learning more about dog drool, here is the Dog Drool Dictionary that was written and illustrated by dogs that drool.
Flooger.
A flooger is dog drool but the consistency is a little thicker than regular drool. It’s more like a slimy booger and it’s the best type of slobber to do the pinch and flick with.
Pinch and flick is when an owner pinches the dog drool at the top by the lower lip and flicks it across the room. It may sound gross but pinching and flicking is much better than having that flooger fly across the room and land in your drink.
Shoelaces
Shoelaces are when a dog has drool strings on each side of the mouth.

Double shoestrings
Same as above but each side has TWO shoestrings. This is not an easy accomplishment and it usually takes the average drooler years to get to this level.
Slimed
Slimed is when the owner gets doused in slobber. It’s usually when a dog has recently taken a drink and comes and rests their head on your lap but as the below picture proves, you can get slimed anywhere.
Earrings
When the dog slobber extends from the mouth to the ear.
Necklace
When shoestrings dangle to mid-chest and then come together to form a beautiful necklace.
Slinger
Slobber that is always in motion. Usually, one string that moves back and forth either by the wind or the dog’s movement.
Sometimes it stays in place for a long time and sometimes, with one turn of the head, the slinger breaks free and goes airborne.

#wayback to my sling back drool 🤤 for #dogslobberchallenge for @mybrownnewfies 😂🤪
Eyebrow Art
This must be a Newfie millennial thing because I’ve never seen this type of art before.
Droolsicle
This is dog slobber that is frozen or semi-frozen. It’s usually a mixture of drool and snow that the dog has been chomping on. When the snow and drool mix together it forms a droolsicle.
Yes, it can poke your eye out.
Wrap Around
This is dog slobber that wraps around a dog’s nose. The number of times it wraps around a dog’s nose depends on the individual dog. It usually wraps around the snout due to a quick shake of the head after a dunk in the water dish or after a nice long walk.
Spittle
When the dog slobber breaks apart and lands on the dog’s head in various areas.
Waterfall
When the slobber Just. Won’t. Stop.
Ground toucher
A flooger that touches the ground. This slobber has to be the exact right consistency to not break. It is not an easy feat and deserves applauds.
Floor toucher
The same thing as a ground toucher but I had to share this one!
