As soon as September 1st came along my brian automatically shifted from summer to fall.
It does this every year despite the weather outside.
What can I say? I just love fall!
Besides decorating for fall one of my favorite things to do, besides taking pictures of Newfies in the season, is playing around with designs.
I like to see what I can create.
It’s usually a Newf surrounded by colorful fall leaves or spooky pumpkins but this year I was drawn to witches.
Perhaps that’s because I was recently talking to one of my friends about taking a trip to Salem.
Ever since I was in middle school and learned about the Salem witch trials I’ve been fascinated with them.
I’m also a big fan of The Craft plus several other witch-themed movies.
But anyway, this year I was compelled to do something with Newfies and witches.
My mind swirled with possibilities but I was ultimately drawn to the image of a good, strong witch.
I could just tell you that I designed a limited edition Newfie Halloween image and leave it at that but me being me I have to explain the meaning behind the image so hopefully you understand where it came from.
What This Witch Represents
Since losing Sherman and Leroy I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting.
I didn’t realize it at the time but raising Newfies isn’t easy and it takes a special kind of person to do it.
This person is beautiful inside and outside.
They are strong in mind and in body.
And they are humble about this too.
I look around at all the women I know that are owned by Newfies and I see this.
The Newfie mama that is raising children and a Newfoundland.
The foster mom that takes in rescue Newfies and shows them what life really is and then lets them go.
The female breeder that has dedicated her life to this amazing breed.
The working woman who does all the things in water and on land with her Newfoundland.
The woman who is caring for an aging or injured Newfoundland.
The woman who is raising a Newfie puppy.
The woman who just said good-bye to her best friend.
And the woman who just said hello to her new best friend.
These women don’t ask to be recognized for their strength and courage which makes them even more deserving.
We are strong women whether we realize that or not and there’s a reason that our Newfies chose us.
I probably should have put muck boots on the witch since I know most of us don’t wear heels. Lol.
The Broom
The broom obviously isn’t the broom that we ride but the broom that we use to sweep up the endless dog hair.
And with the witch holding it over her head, it shows our strength.
The Newfie
The Newfie represents the way that our Newfies look at us with love and admiration.
They are our heroes and we are theirs.
I don’t think a lot of us realize that.
The saying
I don’t know.
To me witches are magical and they have special powers.
We don’t all look like witches and we definitely don’t all live in Salem.
About the shirt in general
This shirt is a print on demand shirt through Teespring.
It’s the easiest way for me to do this without being too time-consuming.
The item that you choose will be printed and shipped from Teespring.
Based on your feedback, this limited design is available in a hoodie, long-sleeved t-shirt, short-sleeved t-shirt, zip hoodie, cloth face mask, coffee mug, and stickers.
Most products come in a few different colors but some will only come in one color due to the material and design.
I will only have this product available for about 2 weeks since it’s seasonal.
Since I’ve never ordered from Teespring before I ordered a sample to make sure it was good quality.
I’m very happy with the classic long-sleeve shirt! For size reference, I ordered a size medium.
It’s a little big but I like my clothes a little bigger.
I hope you ladies like it.
It was designed with you in mind and in the heart.

I love the shirt. Just ordered one. I lost my boy in June of this year. My heart is still so broken. Reading your thoughts keeps me sane. It's not all easy! Nothing worth doing ever is. Whether it's your old Newfie or your brand new puppy they are tons of work. I have loved every minute of every one of them.

Being a christian, I can't see myself wearing a witch emblem. Wish you would have chosen something else. I love your blogs. And thank you for encouraging me to be strong and do all the stuff I can with my girl Zoey. She's a year and a half and I'm 75. What was I thinking? Always wanted a newfie!!

I LOVE IT!!! I share your fascination with witches. And I agree, women who breed, raise, rescue, foster Newfies are strong and unique. I don't know how you do it. I love Newfies, but I also know I couldn't raise one at this stage in my life. I have my hands full with Ducky right now. But I don't feel any less strong or "witchy". And I don't wear heels, either. 😁
