Dear Husband, Please Kiss Them Goodnight

Today I leave for Nashville to attend the BlogPaws conference.

I’m road tripping with my parents which hopefully will be a blast and nothing like the last road trip we took when I was 15.

There’s a reason for that.

It was a nightmare.

I was 15.

Now I’m 40.

Now I know I WANT to spend time with them.

But……….I’ll be gone for 4 days away from my family.

I will miss all of them for sure but I know that they are in good hands.

My husband can handle it and he can handle it well.

Actually, he kind of reminds me of Mr. Mom, except he doesn’t fold clothes all that well.

Well maybe he does, it’s just not the way that I do it.

But he makes dinner, cleans the house, helps the kids with homework, feeds the dogs and so much more.

He knows the routine and rarely varies from it. (I know your reading)

He knows Leroy’s medical concerns and what to watch for.

He knows Sherman’s OCD tendencies and handles them as needed.

Fresh water bowl at all times because Sherman DOES NOT like to drink the same water that Leroy just drank. (reminder)

And if he doesn’t like the water that is in his bowl he will sniff it and walk away and won’t take a drink until you dump and refill it. (reminder 2)

He’s got the kids down….unless of course they try to pull a fast one on him or Gracie flashes him her sweet blue eyes. (DON”T FALL FOR IT)

There might be some minor issues but I know it’s all good.

I know they are all safe in his hands.

Actually, they are safest in his hands.

But if I could ask for one small thing my dear husband.

Please kiss them goodnight.

I know that’s easy for Gracie, she won’t let you go to sleep until you’ve done it. Bobby’s at the age where it could be kind of awkward but that’s just a front. He’ll still lean in for one.

And I know you don’t kiss dogs BUT maybe once? I kiss them every night before I go to bed and they except it. I know they do.

Look at it this way: They don’t know I’m coming back on Sunday. They are waiting for me to come walking through that door any minute.

After day 2 they might think that I’m not coming home at all and then depression will set in. (guilt trip)

They need a kiss goodnight.

O.k. I know that’s a lot to ask.

Not everyone kisses dogs and the dogs might totally get freaked out if you kiss them…..BUT…..

could you please make sure you go down and say goodnight and maybe give them a quick belly rub or a pat on the head before you turn in for the night?

It will help them sleep better.

It will help me sleep better.

p.p.p.s Don’t forget to check Sherman’s head. Left side. Between his ear and his eye but closer to his ear.

p.p.p.p.s Don’t worry about me. I won’t do anything stupid and I won’t get lost.  I’m with my parents 😉
